Sad day today...
We were supposed to pick up our new WC today. Went down and did the paperwork, had a complete walk through and went over my checklist. Found some things that needed attention and made arrangements for them to be fixed when the parts came in. While we were doing that, they worked on my truck, putting in a new Prodigy and 5th Wheel assembly. Said it would take 2 to 3 hours. After 3.5 hours, they were done with my truck. Then they moved the WC into the shop to install the capture plate. After 35 minutes the installer comes to the front and I over hear him talking to the sales manager. Something about "... new capture plate.... never saw one like this... 2 to 3 more hours for installation... lots of cutting and drilling....
I get the salesperson and ask her to find out what is happening. After another 10 minutes, the sales manager comes out and apologizes, but it seems Pullrite has a new capture plate that will require some modifications being made before it can be installed. So we spent almost 4 hours and still don't have our WC. Guess I'll just have to go back next Monday and pick it up. They should have it ready by tomorrow, but I have to leave town on business, so it will have to wait until I return.
What next? I can't wait. **sigh**

Don't worry, things will get much better soon. I feel your pain though. It's heck waiting for a new toy.

Re: Sad day today...
I'm with Phil. Your hitch is a VERY common brand. There shouldn't be ANY surprises for an installer with experience. That seems like a huge red flag right off the bat.
As for the unsuccessful PDI and having to order parts, just chalk another one up to FR's poor quality control. The upside with FR is they eventually make it right. Too bad it takes them two or more times at it to get there.

They have been in business since 1947. Hayes RV in Longview,TX. Maybe the wrong capture plate was sent? Dunno, but I'm calling them tomorrow before they can start ... modifying... and asking them to check with FR and Pullrite. Would not be the first time a wrong component was shipped. As I said, the installer said he'd never seen one like this, so maybe there was a change or maybe the wrong part was shipped. Will know more tomorrow... maybe.

Talked to the dealer today. They called pullrite and were told that instead making capture plates for so many different brands, the now only send out a universal plate that must be modified to fit. Think I'm going to email them as well.

Is it possible for you to switch to a different brand of hitch before this gets out of hand?

Re: Sad day today...
BobnPi please check with your dealer to see if you can use the Quick Connect Capture Plate go here to look at the pull-rite plate it does not require any modifications and is on in a few minutes http://www.pullrite.com/superglide_capt.htm
Some pin boxes are to big and you can not use the quick connect plate but the boxes that come standard on the cats can unless they have been changed.
Good Luck

Re: Sad day today...
I guess I'm lost here. What the heck is a capture plate and why would a hitch ever have to be modified?? Maybe it is a pull-rite thing? If we are talking about the plate that the nylon disk rides against, why would there be different plates?

Re: Sad day today...
Hopefully, I can answer your question the PullRite Super Glide hitch is different then a standard hitch. The entire hitch plate and pin capture areas moves back and forward automatically as you make turns to prevent the cat from hitting the back of your truck. Good for Short Beds. In order to make this happen a capture plate adapter must be placed on the pin box. This prevents the pin box from rotating on the hitch plate. Now that I have confused you even more PullRite has a really good video of the system http://www.pullrite.com/superglide_video.htm

Actually, that explains alot, I didn't realize that the capture plate was going on the pin box.

Re: Sad day today...
That still doesn't explain why the installer was scratching his head. I'd still be concerned.
