HELP! Fridge not cooling..

Post by Schleprock on 7/17/2010, 1:01 pm

I brought the Cat home around 1:30 my time, I plugged the Cat into the house power and turned the fridge on Auto. Its been 3+ hours and the freezer is almost ice cold but the fridge is still around 80!? Never seen this before?

We used it last weekend and it was working fine when I shut it off for the trip home.

I checked the incoming power fuses - good.
I checked the fuses on the circuit board on the fridge - good.
I moved the temp probe to the top of the cooling fin (inside the fridge, it was almost at the top when I turned it on).

Not sure what else to do? It's going to suck having to drag a cooler full of ice around for a 3 day trip! (we leave first thing in the morning......)

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Bryan

It may need more time to pull down or you could have a blockage in the cooling unit. Wouldn't be a control issue as both compartments used the same cooling system. I run my refer for at least 12 hrs before using it. Also I start mine up in early spring and never shut it down until I winterize the trailer late fall.

Turn it on gas only and see what happens. My board went out earlier this year. Gas worked fine but electric wouldn't. We too do not turn our fridge off till the end of October

turn on this spring with electricity failed to cool after 6hrs, switched to gas, started cooling right away, works fine either way now, will leave on until winter.

I agree with trying it on gas. A weak heating element or low AC voltage would effect cooling while on electric as gas would be unaffected.

Welll something is definately wrong. It took 2 days for it to get down to the "normal" cold temperature. I did change it over to gas the night before we left and just hoped it would get cold enough.

Our last night camiping it finally got cold enough for the fridge guage to read in the "cold".
It has never taken this long to get cold, either on electric or gas.... Going to have to keep an eye on this, especially since my second year warranty just ran out last week!!

I can't leave it plugged in all season since my lovely HOA doesn't allow RV's and I have to store it... oh well, such is life!

Still had a great time camping!!
