Next Trip
The DW and I have decided to take the 2011 season off and return to the ranks of RVers. We are going to do a grand tour of the US focusing on the northern plains, northern Rocky Mountains and the Northwest. As you can see by our places visited map, these are states that we've never camped in. Our goal is to fill in the map with this trip. We'll be leaving right after Easter and return sometime after Labor Day. We'll have no specific schedule, just drive until we find someplace interesting to stop.
More as time goes on and film at 11:00.
Now to get on to the planning.

Re: Next Trip
Sounds like a great trip. We have visited North Dakota as campers and Montana without camping. Even in ND there is much beauty and things to see.
I would recommend including the western Canadian provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta in your trip (probably British Columbia too, but have never been there). DW and I took a 17 day trip that included a swing through all three from Winnipeg to the Canadian Rockies and back during our se3cond season worth a pop up. Over 4,300 miles in that time; a little too ambitious perhaps, but a great trip. It does require a passport now which we did not need. I think the Canadian Rockies outshine those in Montana. Canadian Provincial Parks are generally excellent.
If you like dark beer there is a great one near Winnipeg. I am really looking forward to going back when we have time to wander like you are planning to do.
Enjoy whatever you do.

You will enjoy! I would certainly second the travel into the southern parts of BC and Alberta. Outstanding country and fantastic people. Vancouver Island was also a highlight. In 4 months you should be able to see quite a bit of the country.
I would like to make it back to Alaska next year, and the Canadian portion of the trip is certainly part of the reason. We are still thinking about that trip, but don't know if we can put it together.
