New to Forums..Couple of Questions
I am looking for some opinions. I am headed this week to look at a 2006 Wildcat 30lswb. Have only seen photos and put a small down payment on it. I thought you "Wildcat's" might give me a few pointers on what to look for when I get there, things that may be particular to this model and brand. This will be our 1st 5th wheel and kind of nervous. Have never pulled a 5th wheel, but have pulled other hitch types. I will be pulling with a Dodge 2500 6.7L Diesel MegaCab.
Good forum...I have read a lot of good stuff and looking forward to be an active member if we get the Wildcat.
Thanks
Anthony

First off,
to the forum.
You have the right truck for the trailer.
As for pulling a 5' er, it is great, I think it is easier to pull down the road, easier to back up then a TT. Setup time is shorter and easier then a TT.
Look it over close for leaks, spongy floors, tire wear, roof condition and any maintenance records if possible. Why are they getting rid of it, where has it been stored and how long.
Hope this helps and good luck.

Re: New to Forums..Couple of Questions
Welcome to the forum.
We used to have a TT and went to a 5th wheel, it's much more stable and faster to hitch up.

Re: New to Forums..Couple of Questions
Welcome from New Jersey.
You will love pulling a 5th wheel compared to a TT, were in our first 5th wheel almost 4yrs love everything about it. And by the way great choice of truck.
This forum is a great source of information and sometimes even entertainment.
There is a link here for a checklist when buying a rig, print it out and hopefully it will help.
Goodluck and Happy Camping

Hi Anthony and welcome to the forum.
Here is a link to a really good PDI checklist:
http://changingears.com/rv-checklist-inspection.shtml?sec-checklist
Take a look, it should give you a good idea as to what to look at.

Re: New to Forums..Couple of Questions
Anthony, As a fairly new 5th wheel puller. I can tell you there's no comparison as far as I'm concerned between pulling a 5th wheel as compared to a to a TT.The road manners are much better with the 5th wheel.Happy camping.

Re: New to Forums..Couple of Questions
It's four years old now. Depending on how it's been used there are some things to watch out for. Beartoo covered some and OldElmer gave a good tip on the checklist.
I'd pay particular attention to the tires. If the unit has been parked alot, look for cracks in the side walls, especially the underbelly side. Also check the treadwear and the valve stems. Are the tires unevenly worn? That could indicate an axle that it out of plumb.
Go over the unit with a fine tooth comb. Even at 4 years, there shouldn't be much wear and tear inside the coach. The DW and I have been fulltiming for three years now in an 06 29RLBS and the inside is in very good shape.
If there's gas in the tank, have them turn the HWH on and the furnace to make sure they work. Also, have them turn the reefer on four hours before you arrive. It should be cold when you get there.
Was it a smoker's trailer? Sooner or later the odor is going to come through, no matter how they masked it for the sale.
Best of luck.

Re: New to Forums..Couple of Questions
hellcat to the forum, I can only add to the information, don't be afraid to look, touch, and smell everywhere. This includes while the slides are in and extended. Check the roof for damage and weather wear. Hopefully you have found a unit that has been well maintained.Good Luck and hope to see you back on the forum as a Cat owner
