Triple A
We are going to leave next week for a trip to Yellowstone. Should we have AAA before we leave? Never had it before and see that there is many options, plans, etc to choose from. Do many of you have this? Or is there a better option? Our truck no longer has road side assistance. My DW thinks we should get this. just not sure. I see they cover the fiver too. What they actually cover seems a little vague. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Re: Triple A
If you do get a roadside assistance make sure it covers your trailer too. Most policies don't.

Re: Triple A
Most policies are vague about RV coverage. My state farm policy gives me coverage and my agent guarantees it is there, but very little is said about it. Basically state farm road side assistance covers the RV if it is attached tothe TV. I also have AAA, but you will need to have the Plus coverage, or better, to have the RV covered. The coverage is pretty well identified in the policy.

We have AAA+, but have not needed it so far. It's a good thing to have on the road.

Re: Triple A
I have had Good Sams Road Side Assistance for years and have used it a few times with Great success. Since it was for RV'ers they make sure the right service truck is sent out the first time. Maybe some others will reply with their experience's Pro and Con. Jim

Re: Triple A
I assume that you are talking about AAA Roadside Assistance, and not insurance.
Anyway, I have AAA Roadside assistance, if you want to include your fiver in that, you'll need the RV endorsement.
I have it and used it. They sent someone out to the campground to change a flat on the fiver (I didn't have the right size lug wrench!
Now I do
). Woulda cost me $250 for the site visit, so it paid for itself right there.

Just a week ago I help a man on the road that had AAA and they only would pay for the first 4 miles. They did not cover the trailor. I pulled it in for him to a campground. I have Good Sam for 17 yrs and used them with no problem. They cover all vehicles you are in or your wife if it needs to be towed. Get something befoe you get on the road. Big $$$ to have the rig towed in if you have pay.

Re: Triple A
Get either Good Sams or Coachnet Roadside assistance. Both are good and designed for RV'ers. I have Good Sams. While on a trip out west my Truck broke down on I-70 in Colorado. Good Sams towed both the truck and the trailer. They found a place to put the trailer for the night while the truck was being repaired. Roadside assistance is a must have for RV'ers in my opinion, I would never travel without it.

I use to carry AAA, but canceled years ago as the prices went up to cover the RV. I figure the $$ I have savedwill cover a few tow bills.....knock on wood. It's a crap shoot IMO.

Re: Triple A
Get the AAA PLUS with RV endorsement coverage. It will also reimburse you even if you can't find a AAA assist in remote areas.
Examples:
I blew an wheel bearing on my last fifth wheel on the Donner Pass around 8 pm just as it was getting dark. Could not carry on and the highway patrol escorted me off into the next pull-out just ahead. No one (including highway patrol) could find me a tow truck that could carry the fifth wheel to the next repair facility or someone to attend and make an on-the-road repair. We stayed the night in the pull-out and in the next day's light I strapped the bad axle up and ran down the highway at a cautious speed on 3 wheels. Finally got to a repair facility who made the fix and got me going. This included the repair facility making a 180 mile round trip run into Sacramento to p/u parts.
Of course, I had to pay for the actual repair itself.
Another time, I had my newly-rebuilt truck engine blow out in Seattle and had the truck towed 100 miles home through the US/Canada border. They did a tow truck switch at the border from the US tow truck to a Canadian one and I had it taken straight to the engine rebuilder for a warranty replacement.
Colour me a convinced customer.

Re: Triple A
Do most of you that have the Good Sam's coverage just have the standard or do you pay the extra for the Platinum?
