12V light problem
When I turned off the battery shut off switch,The 12v lights flickered, went dim for a second, then went out. When I turned the battery switch back on the lights would work. The WC is plugged in while this is going on.Tried it again, and got the same results. Is my converter taking a dump,or could there be a different problem?

Re: 12V light problem
If you have no power to your 12v items with the battery off/disconnected than the converter isn't working. Could be a bad converter, blown fuse(s), breaker off, or loose power lead to the breaker. I'd check and make sure the converter is getting 120v and check the converter fuses. If no output with 120v into the converter, it's bad.
If the converter is bad, upgrade to a multistatge converter, your batteries will thank you.

Re: 12V light problem
Probably what Earl said, but how did you wire your switch in?

I get power for a few seconds to the lights Earl, but then they either start flashing or just go out completely. The one in the fridg. was blinking like a Christmas light.on,off,on,off, and so on.My switch is in line on the hot side of the battery Scottz, between the first batt.and the supply post

Re: 12V light problem
Have you done something to cause an improper ground? The flashing off and on seems eerily familiar to something I was dealing with when installing our inverter.

I don't think so TC...Just put the cutoff switch on.Haven't had much time to snoop around on it since I got back from vacation.Just wanted to get some suggestions on what could be wrong.I'm gonna mess with it this weekend.

Re: 12V light problem
Just an update.Checked the converter the other day and it was reading 17V.
Time to replace.Do you guys know if the Progressive Dynamics 4600 is a decent converter? It says it has a four stage charging system, and I think it said it was a plug and play.I guess that means easy to install,Boy I need that.

I just installed the PD 4600. I can't tell you if it's a good one yet, but I can tell you the installation was simple. The whole thing took me less than an hour.
This is the one I bought; 55A version.
Several others on the forum have installed this model, they can tell us if it is a quality unit. I have not heard anything bad about it.

Yes. First time I used them, but they shipped it the same day I ordered; no problems.

I used the PD 9200 and it fitted straight into the tray under the trip switches, My one came with the charge wizard so that you can monitor the battery condition, But lucky me I have only plugged into the mains when on camp sites, due to having a solar panel and batteries are holding up good.
