Extra batteries in storage compartment

Post by Minty on 6/24/2010, 1:17 pm

Hi there I am a little disappointed as I was getting ready to make a few brackets to house two 6 volt batteries but was told the Delivery day for my new cat was postponed due to no windows.
Away from the sad news now that I have a few more days to make to ponder how I am going to put 2 six volt batteries in the front compartment . I am not to sure if anyone has added two or more batteries in the front ,but the 32Qbt(32QBBS old model) has the single battery sunk into the front storage compartment . That storage compartment is made of really thin steal and not designed to hold a lot of weight . Any help with pictures(oh we love Pictures)

Thanks

Can be easly done. There are people on here that have 4 golf cart batteries in the front bay. I have the OEM setup as well as a pair of golf cart in mine. He's a link to my post.

I put a bunch of stuff up front and have never had a problem. I have two batteries, tools, Honda 2000 generator, a propane tank, a battery charger, and a few other small things. BUT, one thing that may make a difference is my batteries are not cut through the sheet metal floor of the front storage bay, they just sit on it with a small 2 inch hole out the bottom of the battery box. That could make a difference.

I have six six volt batteries in my front compartment. I built a plywood box to house them all. No problems at all

Well I guess my worries are over. I am kind of a perfectionist when it comes to it but it almost always breaks the bank. I want to make a panel and cut holes like the factory one does to make them lower so that I can house a few things that are needed at the time of setting up. If you had pics of the 32QBBS that would be good too. I am still a litttle worried with all that weight in the front nad how are they vented and tied down? Thanks for the help. I just wish the darn thing was here and I could start working on it. They say that it will maybe this monday coming up but with Sunday being July 4th who is going to want to be travelling from Ohio to Montana to get me my rig..

Thanks again

I actually just covered up the factory "sunken" battery compartment. That Idea looked good on paper I suppose, but wasn't very practical I feel. Even with the sunken battery I never really used the space above that battery for anything, it was just to awkward of a spot, couldn't stack anything in there. Floorspace was more valuable to me. Plus, the sunken battery compartment was in the way when I went to mount my spare tire under the belly last week.

Bought a 13"x18" piece of 16ga sheet metal from Lowe's, painted it black and covered up the hole. I'm running two 12v deep cycle batteries. I just added one more battery container and placed them side by side. When it was all said and done I netted about 8-9 lineal inches of floor space over my previous setup.

Not sure if any of this was helpful, but thought I share my 2 cents! Can post pictures if needed. Good Luck!
