Concertone ZX 600 sound problem

Post by Ted on 6/12/2010, 7:43 am

For some reason the 5.1 surround sound system on my Concertone ZX 600 stoped working . It worked fine last summer but now all that works is the base woofer on speaker setting A. On speaker setting B the outside speakers work ok. Has anybody had this problem occur and if you did what was the fix??

I'm not sure it ever worked. Guess it depends on the source (DVD).

Ted.

Sorry to hear about your Concertone. But, it doesn't surprise me. If you take a few minutes and look through all the subject lines in the High Tech Center forum, you'll see that Concertones are prone to do anything at any time...except work properly.

Most of us have needed to replace ours (several times) to "fix" the problem. They are poorly made and not built to withstand the punishment that car stereos are.

Some have even replaced theirs with another brand to escape the "Concertone Curse".

I have replaced my unit four times and it still acts up. Last spring when I took mine out of storage, the sub woofer wasn't working at all. It was working fine when I stored it for the winter.

Depending on how old your Cat is, you might be able to get a replacement from Forest River as some of us have. There's a customer rep at Forest River; Rod Batts. His info is on another forum here. Try giving him a call and describe your problem to him. I'm sure when it comes to Concertones, he's heard it all...multiple times over.

Good Luck.

zx700 problems

Post by Duo on 6/13/2010, 3:10 am

Hi,

New to the forum. I came here looking for a possible resolution to a power problem with a Concertone ZX700. Searching has revealed that finding problems with Concertones is no problem.

My unit is out of warranty and since I dabble in electronics I took the liberty of removing the side panel next to the power board. I found that an electrolytic capacitor had turned itself into shrapnel and along with eliminating the proper function of the power board, it perforated the ribbon cable to the main board.

It appears from what I have read here that there are probably enough replaced ZX700s out there to keep me in spare parts for a while. I don't know if any of you saved the old ones but depending on the shipping I would be interested in seeing if it was feasible to gather up one or more for scavenging purposes.

Maybe I could keep one running.

Thanks,
duo

to the forums, duo!!

I have to say, I envy you for your ability to tinker with electronics.

I'd love to tinker on my Concertone too if I had your expertise.

However, I'd probably just end up taking a hammer to it and fixing it so it would never work again.

Thanks for the welcome, my efforts aren't always successful. This may be a sow's ear/silk purse attempt but it's gratifying when you can make something work. More than one project has been considered for blunt force termination.

Thanks.
