Propane Tank Selector switch
Question on propane tank selector switch. How do I tell if it is a automatic switchover type or manual selection only. I didn't get any info on it when I purchased my Wildcat 27BH used.

Re: Propane Tank Selector switch
Everyone I have seen in the last 20 years is both. Automatically switches over when the "on-line" tank is empty; or you can manually switch it at any time.

Mine looks like it has three posible positions. Is the center one for automatic switchover?

The way it works is, with both tank valves opened, the tank on the side that the switch is pointing to is the one that is supplying propane to the appliances if the little window is green. When the tank on that side runs empty the little window turns red and the propane is automatically being taken from the other tank. Then if you turn the switch to point to the other tank the window turns green indicating that the propane is still being taken from the tank that the switch now is pointing to, and you can then close the valve on the empty tank and remove it to have it refilled. You don't have to close the valve on the full tank before removing the empty tank.

Thanks... Mine also has a center position on the switch. Does that shut off both?

Re: Propane Tank Selector switch
I don't know. I've always turned mine to one tank or the other. There really is no reason to shut off the propane at that point. You should probably shut the valve at the tank if you want the propane shut off.

Re: Propane Tank Selector switch
Ken is 100% correct.
I'll go look at mine, but I don't think it really is a center position; just a half way point between left & right; don't know what that would do.
