Do you wax a Wildcat...with what?

Post by Saddlenow on 6/9/2010, 9:48 am

A neighbor has a MH and said he spent the day waxing it...asked me if I waxed a Wildcat. Never have but will give it a go if that is necessary or just good maintenance. Thanks for your advice.

I tried this recipe for the first time Memorial Day weekend before brining the WC from home to KY:

Buy or reuse a spay bottle. Mix 1 cup distilled water with 1 cup liquid Turtle Wax. Add 1 tablespoon dawn dishwashing detergent. Shake and spray on a washed camper (no grit to scratch). Don't let it dry but buff off wet with a terry towel. Works on windows and everything. Two hours flat to do my old 29RLBS. I got this recipe from a friend with a six year old DP. He does the coach twice a year and it looked like new. I now use on boat and all four vehicles. I will never wax the old way again. This is way too easy and works great. Rudy

Sorry Rudy, I don't know who you are or where I found your recipe, but I did like the way it worked. I was always too lazy to use other waxes. This seemed to work well. WC did look better. In addition, the brew seemed to take more of the bug guts off the nose.

I wax the whole trailer once a year and the front cap 3 or 4 times a year with this.

I wash the roof once per year with rubber roof cleaner and a scrub brush.

I wash the Cat two or three times each year with a simple automotive wash and wax ( 2 capfuls in a 2 gal. bucket). I also use black streak remover as necessary at the down spouts. Friend of mine here at the CG uses GelCoat cleaner on his WildWood.

I wax the front cap with Turtle Wax paste once per year.

Thanks for the great advice. Looks like a waxed cat coming up.

I think one of the members here posted this "recipe" last year some time. I wrote it down then and tried it this spring. I'll echo Glen's comments that I was very impressed with it. Waxing the Cat took about half the time it normally does and I've been really happy with the results
