Post by ernief on 6/9/2010, 2:42 am

Sometimes when I turn on my Concertone with TV I get a humming noise thru the speakers, the higher the volume the louder the hum.I can turn on the light over my sink and the hum stops.Anyone heard of this?:

First..Welcome to the group! Glad you are here.

Try turning the volume of the TV down a little and using the Concertone volume to adjust the speakers. On mine, it will do the same thing if the TV volume is up too high. I think it overdrives the Concertone.

ernief.

If you look at a few of the Concertone threads, you'll find that they are poorly made and prone to problems.

If the humming is coming from your speakers only, chances are your Concertone volume is turned up too high without being on a station or having something else operating through it such as the TV or game system.

However, when you said the humming stops when the lights are turned on, instantly made me think of a poor ground.

Is the humm only there when the Concertone is turned on, or do you still have it when the unit is turned off?

Yes, I have heard of that before. For the life of me I can't recall where I read about it. Something in the light over the sink was bad. Ballast or something like that. But I can not remember where or when I heard/read about it. Good luck.
