My Wildcat Experience (So Far)
We've had our new Cat on several trips now and just wanted to tell how happy we are with our choice.
When we began searching for a new 5er I had absolutely zero brand preference. I did however have a few things that were a must. Its just the two of us and our Irish Setter 99% of the time. We pulled around our old 5er enough to know we wanted lighter, shorter and a bed room slide. That is exactly what we found in the 29RLBS.
We looked at many other brands and liked several of them very well. We simply chose the Cat because it had the most of what we were after at a very good price compared to the others.
This camper matched with our truck is a dream to tow. It simply is a perfect match. It rides nearly perfectly level with good ground clearence. No shakes, shimmys, bouncing or pulling to one side. It tracks straight and true. Easy to get up to speed and easy to slow it down. I can put it in small sites with ease and turn in places I never dreamed possible with our old 5er. No more worrying about the larger sites already being occupied upon arrival. I never knew towing a camper could be so stress free until now.
We pretty much knew what to expect after arriving at our destination. It has everything we need and then some. Its comfortable with plenty of room and more than enough storage for the two of us. Everything is easy to get to and operate. Its everything we thought it would be when shopping.
What I was hoping for but wasn't sure of is what I'm so pleased with...
I now know "getting there" can be almost as fun as "being there" when you have the perfect match of camper and truck.

I am in agreement with you Mountain Man. Our last fiver was only a 26 footer and pulled pretty decent. Pulled it with a Chevy 2500 gasser. The Cat just handles like a charm with the Duramax. Great combination and wouldn't hesitate to pull it almost anywhere. It's actually a pleasure to drive. Also enjoy the layout and all the comforts. Had a few minor issues but nothing that wasn't easily fixed. All in all we're very pleased with our choice.

Just for the record, what did you have prior? We have the 28RKBS and like you, it is a dream to pull. We just got done with a trip through the Ozarks, and while there were some good pulls, overall it handled everything great. We love our Cat!

34' Prarie Schooner. (Closer to 35' than 34') It is built like a tank and extremely heavy. 12k+lbs. without being loaded down for a trip. I never had it on the scale fully loaded. I was too afraid of what it would read.
It always rode nose up behind our truck even after adjusting both the hitch and the pin box on the trailer. It needed a spring over but I simply didn't wan't to fool with it.
Having the right match of truck and trailer makes an unbelievable difference in towing. I have seen the light.

Not to be too redundant, but, DITTO, DITTO, DITTO! The Duramax/Allison combination is outstanding! Some of those die-hard "other truck fans" don't know what they're missing. Hope you have many more enjoyable outings.

MountainMan, it's good to hear such good comments about your Wildcat. We've had very few problems with ours so far. Well, with the exception of some problems with the original tires, things have gone very well.

It's funny reading this thread. I was just talking with my wife on the way home Monday from the Memorial day weekend. I said that I have absolutely no anxiety about towing the 'Cat with the Chevy. It really is a comfortable tow (although I have nothing to compare it too as I came from a Motor Home before the 'Cat).
