29BHBP Bounce
Well, we had our second trip this year. I am having difficulty getting the ride right. I purchased a different TV last fall, and now the Cat rides bad.
Last year, I had a 3/4 ton pick up. It pulled ok but the truck couldn't handle very well in wind etc. It sagged some, as no air bags.
Our new one is a 1 ton DRW and I think the ride height is higher. I adjusted the hitch and have been playing with the air bags on the truck. I pulled my Dad's older fiver and it pulled great. His old fixed pin left only about 4" to the bed rails.
Our Cat is about 7-8 inches when parked flat. The front of the Cat is too high when looking at it. I was thinking about raising the pin box. There is 2 holes left to raise it. Not sure if this is a good idea.
I don't notice any sway, but the bouncing is terrible. Every overpass, any rough section of road. Maybe shocks? The truck is plenty heavy as the previous owner had a bigger fifth wheel than ours.
We have a couple of extended trips. One being to Yellowstone. I'm not sure I could tollerate the ride from WI. Any ideas?
I don't want to make a mistake and goof something up.
I delivered a Sierra for someone eariler this year. It was only a few feet longer but did pull better.
Wasn't sure if this is just how this model is.
I really didn't think this model would need major mods like air pin box and shocks. Where do you think I should start?

Re: 29BHBP Bounce
Shocks will help dampen the bouncing. I added them to my 31QBH which is basically the same trailer as the 29. You should also try to keep more weight to the front of the trailer, if possible.

This last trip I only kept min. water in the tank. It's in the back I think. It fills there anyway. We don't actually have much weight in the back. 4 bikes though hanging off. I'll bet that doesn't help any. Is there an aftermarket kit for shocks?

Re: 29BHBP Bounce
Monroe has one. I get more bounce when I have the jetski trailer weight on the rear hitch. It starts to teeter totter with the WC being the pivot point. I noticed the shocks helped keep stuff in its place in cabinets. It just rode better, but not perfect.
I have two water tank behind the axle (I added a second). It changes the ride when I fill both. I only do that if we are only going on 1-2hour trips. I don't fill them all the way on longer drives.

I put a Demco Glide-Ride and the Equaflex suspension on our 29BHBP. You need to have your trailer as level as possible. Raising the pin-box will be fine as long that you have enough clearance between the bed-rails. Do your spring hangers have multiple holes? If so, you could raise your trailer some.
