Re: Google Map of members
I would recommend using a nearby intersection rather than your actual street address because it will display your address if you click deep enough. With the movement features it is possible to isolate and view your property if you are in a fully mapped town. This is recommended because viewing is not limited to members at this time.
I did find it amusing that the gas price at the convenience store at my posted intersection showed regular unleaded gas at $2.95 a gallon. Wonder how long ago that was?
Great idea Keith

I wonder how old the maps are? I can see the utility trailer still parked in my driveway that I sold over two years ago.

I believe they are taken at all different times, if you look at the intersection on my map you will notice that when looking north an Austin motor unit has traffic stopped at the intersection, however if you sweep around looking west on Davis Lane or east from Davis Lane, that motor unit is not there and the sun is gone, replaced by clouds. So the pictures of that intersection are taken at different times and pieced together. When I look at my house in street view I can tell the picture is pretty new by the way my motorcycle is sitting in the driveway. The satellite view of my house has to be about 4 years old. When I look at my Dads place there are some tractors and equipment sitting there that have been gone for quite a while.

Clarification
Hey Keith, hope you don't mind but I re-created the map Wildcaters. I thought I might add some clarification for what could be confusing to some, since there are now 3 maps in the account. The original steps are the numbered ones. The added info will be lettered and colored blue and/or red but inserted in Keith's original instructions. I know when I initially did this I was a little confused.
Hope this helps. If anyone wants assistance please pm me and I will help or add it for you.

B. Click on the tab that says my maps (you do not need to create a new map or select one of the maps on the left at this time)
C. In the upper portion of the page with the "search the map" tab:
1. Enter your address or cross streets- (comma)-(city)-(comma)-(state) and click on "search maps" Note: if you are using cross streets use the ampersand sign (&) between street names
D. a green arrow will then be put on the map along with a white info box showing the location you have chosen
2. In the white info box on the map click on "Save to my maps"
3. Select "Wildcaters" for the map in the dropdown box on the info box
4.Under "title" in the info box above the place marker, not on the left hand side. your location will appear. Replace that with location/address withput inyour Forum name and hit O.K.
Now you can select one of the map names on the left and a list of id's will appear in the left hand box of everyone listed in the map you have selected. By zooming in and out you can see who ever you wish
Good Luck
Regards,
Keith

Re: Google Map of members
More fun with google maps... when viewing maps and you click on a user id on the left, an info box will open over the map. If there is a photo in that info box, click on the photo and it will open a new info box(it may open a new window with the new info box). You should see "street view" under the photo; click on "street view" and seee what the wonders of google do.

Re: Google Map of members
For those that have their street address as the title, how about going in and changing that to your Wildcat Forum username. Then we will know who you are.

Viewing Wildcaters without logging in to Google maps
To view Wildcaters listings without logging in to Google go to Google maps and in the upper block where the "Search the map" tab is located type in Wildcaters (note: one t). On the left hand side a few listings will appear. Under each of those listings is a small link that says Wildcaters. Click on that small link and a full list of people that have added themselves to the map will appear with placemarks. You can click on individual listings to get more info via the info box.

Re: Google Map of members
We are on the map. I didn't put down my town, used another one nearby..... and a location that I think is really neat. I don't know how long this "landmark" or maybe I should call it a "skymark" will remain. So, if you want to see something interesting, look at the map. You'll have to zoom in quite a bit. I hope I did it right. :)

Re: Google Map of members
Give me a link to the map, When I pulled it up the old way it didn't show any saved maps.
The quick link showed everybody, But your tab zoomed into the middle of a hay field it looked like.

I goofed! Look at Scruffy & Tater in TX. The one near Waxahachie is a mistake that I'll delete as soon as I figure out how.
