Build time for RV??????????????
Hi all,
I am like a new expectant father awaiting his new child. We made an
order with a request of the factory gluing our entire linoleum floor
down. We can not make the request to the factory the selling dealer has
to do that. We ordered the trailer April 20/2010. We have been trying to
get info to make sure that the trailer was getting this mod and the
selling dealer
would not get back to us.So after reading lots of posts we contacted
Rod at FR, he seemed to not take it serious and waited to respond. He
again said his hands were tied so back the seller. After getting angry
with the guy on the phone (and after talking to the one owner) we then
talked to the other owner and got our info correct. Yes the mod is on
the order and will get done when constructed.
So now like i said I
ordered it April20/2010 and it will be 8-10 weeks to receive rig. Well
this is what I found out from Rod Batts at FR. Our unit is not even
started
, not upset just really anxious to go camping(although it snowed
here last night). He told me that the unit will be offline June 15 ,
and the Online date( wait for it) June 11. I almost dropped my load and
WHAT
, 5 days to build a rig from scratch are you kidding me... Well I
hope that they don't forget to tighten the screws..
Good news is the owner of the rv seller called this morning and confirmed that they are going to be heading from Ohio to Montana to exchange rig and do an inspection on June 28. Looking forward to this.. Just in time to load up for the first trip on July long weekend(canada)...
Has anyone heard of and what are your thoughts?????

Re: Build time for RV??????????????
I have done a factory tour on some other brands and they produce about 5 to 8 units a week so your 5 day turn around is about right, It is amazing how fast they can build a unit from scratch. good luck with your unit. I bought a new one in march and saw it finished on the line at the Factory.

Re: Build time for RV??????????????
Minty,
The operative word here is "FACTORY". The units are built on an assembly line with much of the work pre-fabbed and waiting to be installed. Most of the mechanical items (Chassis, undercarriage, HWHeater, A/C Unit, Microwave, Reefer, Toilet, hatches, doors, windows, etc., etc., etc.) are manufactured by vendors and sent to the factory. Each worker on the line has a specialty and stays with that operation. The carpentry and uphostery shops are home grown.
That's how they build them so fast. Yup, mistakes are made, but I've had my 29RLBS for 5 seasons now and have had very, very few complaints. I'm kinda glad that the RV industry hasn't caught up to the auto industry in build time. More time = fewer mistakes.
Hope your Cat comes through with flying colors and you enjoy it as much as we've enjoyed ours.
