Scared?

Scared?
I wonder, are there any mods you are tempted to do but are a bit scared they will make you rig less desireable upon resale or, maybe you think it may just appear a bit too cheasy?
For instance, I would like to install a line-level thermostat that controls an outlet. This way I could plug in an electric space heater and hopefully, have better temp control over it.
What mods would you be afraid of if looking at a used RV? (maybe electrical stuff ?)
Have you ever had a mod you were hesitant to do but would really like to have? What was it?
Cheers,
Scott

Re: Scared?
Truthfully I/we never considered the resale value of our unit. I,
personally, always figured we'd never get anything for it. Use it
until if falls apart and junk it (I say that quietly because it's
parked out front and I don't want it to hear me say things like
that).
I figure we've gotten our money's worth out of it already. It's
now 5 years old, got about 35K miles on it and is pretty much retired
from long hauls. We drag it down to a spot within 30 yards of the
Kenai River in June and back in September. Probably 370 miles
round trip. And the guy who owns the property it's parked on told
us to just leave it over the winter and be done with it, we don't
really want to. Good excuse to bring it home and give it a good
bath/cleanup. If we owned some property down there we'd build a
snow shed over it and let it sit year round though, and we're looking
for property so that we could do that.

I believe in fixing it like we want. We want it the way we want, if it adds/subtracts from the resale, so be it.

Re: Scared?
I'll agree. Most mod's can be done to look like a factory job anyway. Well at least the hunter looked like a factory job cause the guy that worked on my heater was truely suprised when he saw it. He was like Wow, they really put the bells and whistles on this Cat. Hated to tell him I did it but had to.

Re: Scared?
I consider resale for the first couple years, then it's about me and my needs. The factory warranty has a lot to do with that. You'd hate to have warranty worked denied because of a mod. I'm thinking this on the WC and other vehicles. On the WC, it didn't stop me. On my truck though, I held off until the warranty was done. Now it doesn't really matter, my bro works at the dealer now. He's even modified his 2008 F350 that's still under warranty. I guess when you control the work in the shop, you can get away with it.

I wouldn't hold back. It's your unit and you'll never get your money out of it on sale or trade anyways. Most RV dealers don't even look at your trade, they give you a number without seeing it. At least that's what I've experienced.
