Brake Cable
I waited a while before I posted this because I wanted to try it first. It's one of those thing that somebody should have thought of years ago. I got it from these folks: Fastway Trailer The 4' one is plenty long enough for mine.

Nice idea. I have had my cable pull out due to catching on items in the truck bed. I'll have to try this.

Thanks Avid!! Just placed my order. I've had the cable catch a couple of times, so I don't put anything between the hitch and tailgate... now I'll be able to use it again
I wasn't able to get a shipping quote to Ontario from their website so I had to call. For anyone interested from southern Ontario, the shipping cost was $9 something.
