My new Tow Vehicle
Have had my new 2011 F-250 6.7 PSD for 3wks now. Wow what a vehicle, smooth, quiet and quick. Getting abt 16mpg around town, have not really had it out on the road yet.
Hooked up the Wildcat yesterday for a test run before we leave on a 5K
trip next month. Has a little shutter when taking off, a little
discerning at first but guess I will get used to it. My '05 did not do
it, was real smooth on take off. What we noticed most was how quite it
was, cruising along at 65 we could whisper to each other. Did notice it
had much more power and instant response. Only pulled about 30mi
mainly to check brakes and clearances (same as '05 F-250). Really am going to
like the trailer info screen, came right up to "active" trailer. Will
keep posted while on trip.

Looks nice, congrats ! I was going to get a 2010 6.4l with all the rebates but my Ford mechanic advised me not to so I bought the v10 for now. Please do keep us posted on the MPG your getting and anything else you think might be of interest !!

Re: My new Tow Vehicle
There was a TSB for the shudder, but I don't know if it still applies to the 2011 trucks. I think it was due to pinon angle with and without loads applied. Just shims the carrier.

Re: My new Tow Vehicle
I think it's 26 on the sb diesel, 36 on sb gas and 38 on all the long beds.
sb diesels have to make room for the DEF tank.

Re: My new Tow Vehicle
Update on new truck:
Left Tulsa the 29th, arrived Modesto Ca. the 2nd of June. Really impressed with power/smoothness. Mileage about 15% better than my '05 6.0 F-250. Drove same route, same load but about 5mph faster so am satisfied with MPG.

Re: My new Tow Vehicle
Sounds like you really like the Truck. So if Mileage is 15% better than the 6.0, could you possible disclose what it might be. I'm really curious what all that extra money for the diesel option buys. My 6.0 gets 17.0mpg empty. And with cat or stock trailer average 13/14. And when I'm on the turnpikes in Oklahoma 75mph it goes downhill from there. Thanks

Re: My new Tow Vehicle
overall is 11.1, through mountains, two tanks bucking a 30mph headwind.
Same trip out here last year got 9.7 with 6.0
Got 18.5 driving around the central part of San Joaquin valley w/o
trailer.
Like added range, had to figure 300mi between fillups with old truck, now figure 350+
LOVE extra power!!

Re: My new Tow Vehicle
Sounds like your Happy! We got the 6.2L flex fuel Gaser, Sold our 2008 and drove this new one home. Man oh Man does it have all the whistle's and bell's. We love all the info screens, Travel link/with weather maps, real-time mile per gal screen. We also got the off road package, which has all the good down hill stuff. It has taken 3 or 4 days to figure out all the goodies. So far we have been getting 15.7 on gas, 13.5 on Alcohal have not hooked the camper to it yet but will be doing that in a couple of weeks for South Dakota,Colorado,Montana so that will put it to the test. I've owned several Fords in the past, My last new Chevy was a 1986 I only kept for 27000.0 and sold it, and have not looked back since. I believe the 2011 Fords with all there standard features is to date the best truck I've ever owned. Have a great trip and enjoy that Truck and thanks for the information on MPG. Happy camping.
