Water Pump Issues

Water Pump Issues
I took the Cat out for the first time tihis season a few weekend ago. I had a problem with the water pump. The water was pumping through the lines but it was spitting like there might be air in the line. I tried letting it run but the pressure got worse. I tried tightening the connectors but they were tight.
I haven't had time to diagnose the problem and now my wife is threatening a divorce if we don't go camping this weekend. She isn't aware of the problem since she wasnt invited on the first trip (guys only). I better fix it or there will be heck to pay.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Water Pump Issues
Check the fittings on the intake side of the pump; especially if you have a winterizing kit. It's getting air somewhere.

Dumb question, but are you sure there is water in the tank?? Don't trust the electronic meter, they lie.

Re: Water Pump Issues
I had that happen on my last cat. I found the cap on the winterizing kit leaking. The spot where the hose goes on and off. It was really frustrating trying to find it.

Check the outside shower to be sure it's turned off good and tight. Jim

Re: Water Pump Issues
I removed the winterizing valve and that didn't work.
I filled the tank and yes it has water.
I made sure the outside shower is turned off.
I also rechecked all of the connections.
I then disconnected the hose to the water filter and pulled it out of the compartment. I turned on the pump to see if the water was pumping through. It did for a few seconds and then it started spitting again.
Do you think I might need a new pump? I cant imagine it. We bought the Cat last Mothers Day so its only a year old.

Re: Water Pump Issues
Run a hose from the suction side of pump into a clean bucket with water and see if it pumps ok. If it does, you may have an issue with the pex tubing from the basement to the water tank or connection issue @ the tank/tank drain. If the pump still won't pump correctly on the bucket of water, time for a new pump.
