Where to go!

Where to go!
Well, we are supposed to camp in Gulf Shores in June - but because of the oil spill we are seriously considering a new spot... any one have any suggestions for the Atlantic coast? This is of course if the Gulf current doesn't take the oil up the coast!
The kids are so excited about going to the beach - they have been talking about it for a year... So we don't want to disapoint them :)

We are going to Capewoods Campground for Memorial Day in Buxton NC. We have not stayed there ourselves yet, but the two families we are going with went there last year. They said it was nice and much cheaper than the KOA. I can let you know how it was next month.

You will find the beaches on the Atlantic are more like what everybody is expecting. The Gulf coast in general is "muddy" and shallow. I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, and they have great beaches, but not real handy to get to from Indiana. The Carolina's and Georgia are supposed to have good beaches, give them a try.

Myrtle Beach, SC is a great area to visit. They have some great campgrounds in the area.

Pirate land is great for kids. theres another campground on the north side of MB but I'm not sure of the name. You can reserve a site almost right on the beach , check my video clip.
Lots of fun stuff to do at MB.

Gulf Shores state park is really nice place to camp. No oil on the beach at the present time. You can still sun bath and go to the large water park that is just up the road. You can go to weartv.com and they have lots information on the local area.
