Park Reopens in MO
The official re-opening of Johnson Shut-ins State Park in Missouri is scheduled for May 22, 2010. For those who don’t know, the state park was heavily damaged four and a half years ago when the Taum Sauk reservoir dam collapsed. I’m still amazed that no one was killed when the dam collapsed.
The campground is opening to the public today (Apr 30th). The new campground will included 20 full hookup sites and I believe they will have 50 amp service. The park will also have 6 camper cabins. DW and I have camping reservations for May 10th to the 14th in one of the pull-thru full hookup sites in loop 2. I can’t wait to see how the Black River and the rest of the park looks.

I agree, it doesn't seem that long ago. The dam collasped in the same year (2005) Katrina hit New Orleans. Yet Katrina seems like ancient history compared to the dam breech, at least in my mind.
The campground looks really nice from the photos I've seen of it. I was disappointed that they didn't make more of the campsites full hookups.

Yes, I'll report on the campground and I'll probably included a couple of photos as well.
