RV Wholesalers vs buy local

Post by jackie on 4/28/2010, 3:33 pm

Just wanted to add to my previous post that we only have two dealers within 200 mi. that carry the 28rkbs. We went to see both dealers and there were roof problems with all of their FR products (see my previous post re. roof problems). That's why we have to go elsewhere. Couch's is another we are considering. We plan to find an RV park nearby and live in the camper a couple of days before taking it home so that, hopefully, we can find and have most of the problems fixed by the dealer we buy it from. We are only 390 mi. from Lakeview, which is where RV Wholesalers is and are willing to go further than that if we need to.

Love the floorplan and are really puzzled about the sloppy work done on the roof seams that we have seen on those we have looked at locally. We don't plan on ordering one because of this. We will call and see if they have a couple in stock and drive up to see them, hitting any other Wildcat dealers we can find along the way.

Thanks again for any input.

Welcome to the forum.
We purchased a 32 qbbs from RVW and from start to finish everything went very smooth dealing with them.
We only had one or two minor issues that we didnt find till months later. We took the Cat to Camping World for the repairs and everything was handled through the warranty with no problems.
I may add that you should buy the extra year warranty when you purchase your Cat its about 150 dollars but extends your factory warranty. You need to ask for it they dont usually offer it.
Good Luck and Happy Camping...

Would you be any closer going to the west to find a west coast built model ?

But if you have to go to RVW, keep in mind their more of a ONLINE Discount move'em out the door type dealer. They have a limited shop, but could probably fix anything you throw at them. You can camp pretty much down the street from them at the lake. So that should work out good for you if you have the time to stick around a couple days. I doubt your gonna beat their price. Just don't fall for their extended over priced warranty. Ask for the one year factory extended warranty, that will give you 3 yrs total I think.
shouldn't be but about 200 bucks or so.

In 2006, there was a west coast version of RVW. They quit selling the WC because of a conflict with the manager at the WC plant in Oregon. I think the "other" west coast dealers were feeling undercut by this online dealer (who also had a regular dealership in Wyoming). So after the pissing match, he cut the line from his offerings. He was great to deal with. Never had any major problems with warranties even though I didn't purchase from the dealer 45 miles away. I went to the Cardinal dealer 15 miles away and they covered the hand full of issues I couldn't fix myself (Dometic refr recall being the only one).

I saved $5500. It cost about $300 for fuel and a day of travel to pick it up in Oregon (600 miles each way)
