Clean Front Cap with Armor All

Post by Kim on 4/27/2010, 3:51 pm

Although I haven't tried it I have heard that spraying Pam on the front cap will make it much easier washing off road grime and bugs. Does anyone have any knowledge on this or wiping it with Armor All instead before a road trip??

thanks

Never heard that, but not sure I'd try either one. I'm not a big armor all fan (i do use some but it was a gift!!). I'd have to guess that RainX might be a good fit up there too. Works pretty good at stopping bug adhesion to my windshield. Sounds like a science project to me!!!!!

I've seen guys do that " Pam " at dirt bike races that were gonna be really muddy. and they did seem to come out of the woods with cleaner bikes. it was like the mud just slid off the plastic.

I would think a good coat of quality wax would do you right on the cap. I'm about to do mine. walmart has a small elec buffer that makes it a quick job.

I have used Bounce dryer sheets to clean the Front cap. Wet the front cap down. then rub a wet dryer sheet on the front cap rinse off do not let it dry with out rinsing. Then use a good RV Wash/wax

I tried the dryer sheets a few weeks ago when I brought the Cat out for the season. I was amazed at how they worked. Who would have guessed. I have a box in the camper to get those bugs off the cap when we arrive at a campground. They are so much easier to get off before they bake in the sun. I would definitely not use Armorall. It contains petroleum distilates which will damage the decals. Tire manufacturers don't recommend it for tires because it degrades the rubber. It's a good product and I use it all the time myself, I'm just a little more careful where I use it. I use 303 protectant on the cap. It contains uv inhibitors and is approved for use on vinyl graphics. It needs applied a lot more frequently than wax but you spray on and wipe off so it doesn't take long at all.

Doesn't anyone use Protectall anymore? Is 303 a better product?

Frank - Why do you have to rinse the cap. Does the dyer sheets have something in them that would damage the Cat when it dries.
