new camper
Hello all,
We just bought a new 31TS and an 05 Chevy duramax to go with it. Unfortunately a diesel owners manual didn't come with it and i'm totally new to diesels. can anyone tell me what kind and what weight oil they use and how often do you change it. i've been on line to check it out but i'm not so sure the info I'm getting is regarding it as a tow vehicle.

Re: new camper
to the forum and good luck with your new toys. I have three websites listed below. The first is the 2005 Chevy manual that you can print out. The other two are diesel forums that I belong to. They are both a wealth of information and I am sure they will have any information that you need. They have lots of links to owners manuals and so forth so you should be able to find the 2005 Duramax supplement to the owners manual. I use 15w40 Shell Rotella which is very popular. You can pick it up at WalMart for a reasonable price. I change oil every 5,000 miles which is more frequent then required. Going by the computer my oil still has 60% to 70% life remaining when I change it at 5,000 miles. Changing your fuel filter is also very important. They say it should be changed between 10k and 15k miles. I am changing mine every 10k.KH

Oldelmer . Remember what happened to me when I laughed at the guy with the flat Tire ? Be careful, karma's always listening.
btaylor0 Welcome to the forum. If you need help getting around the forum and posting pic's etc.... just drop a note and somebody will lead you in the wrong direction, I mean somebody will be glad to show you how to do it. Theres a couple of tutorials on how to post pic's and signatures you'll see them on the front page. I'll leave a shadow of this topic here, but generally it would have gone in the Tow Vehicle section. Just poke around a little and you'll see where everything is hid.
Look forward to all the mod's and pic's of your new Cat. So get your wallet back out these guys will make you spend and spend and spend, theres some really neat mods on here.

Re: new camper
btaylor0.........
and hello from Montana!
We own an '05 Duramax as well, and love it! It is a really great truck, pulls our 5vr with no problems and rides great! I went and had all the gearboxes changed over to AmsOil, and the transmission is a lot smoother.
Be carefull tho....these folks here will find more ways of spending your money than you may care to know!
