I HAVE PUT A NEW 7 PIN PLUG IN THE TRUCK TO MAKE SURE I HAVE A GOOD CONNECTION. AND STILL IT DONT FELL LIKE I HAVE TRAILER BRAKES. Norman the quick check is with the 5er hooked up squeeze the manual brake part of the brake control this should max out the control and totally lock the 5er brakes. If the brakes do not apply you definitely have problem.

Hi Norman. You need to turn off the caps ~ it's considered yelling in cyber space.

When you plug the cable into the truck, your controller should lite up green and the gain number should show up. This at least, tells you the controller sees the camper.
As rich said, slide the manual override bar over and this should lock the brakes.
If you get the trailer disconnect at times, this means there is a short in the wiring. I had this too, got underneath and pulled on the wires going through the axles and it stopped, for now.
If you connect the camper to the truck, you could also try pulling the emergency brake cable on the hitch and see if the brakes come on then too.
