Registration costs
We just registered the 'Cat the other day, and we all know that New Hampshire is the "Live free or die" state. What a crock! it cost me $544 for one year. Just wondering what others are paying.

Re: Registration costs
I registered in March, NY pro rates by month, It cost me $140, full 12 months would of been $170. NY allows Jan to Dec only, unlike a vehicle it rolls over for a full 12 months. WOW $544 seems steep.

Re: Registration costs
Down here in the North Georgia Mountains we register ever 12 months for our 2006 29RLBS the total was $66.00 which breaks down to $54.00 AD VALOREM TAX and $12.00 Standard Tag Fee. Looks like we are getting a Break on something for a change. Jim

Re: Registration costs
544 ? ,,,, I'd recheck what they're basing the value of the camper at. I believe somebody made a typo somewhere. I would think NH would be way less than NY tags.....
544 seems more inline with a half million dollar motor home.

Re: Registration costs
Is this just registration or insurance as well? I know Canada will have a completely different system but your numbers seem crazy. Here in B.C. I pay 88 dollars to register and have minimal road insurance. No theft or fire. I then pay another 200ish for additional private insurance to cover the trailer fully in case anything bad happens.

Re: Registration costs
Did you purchase the trailer in NH? Was that the cost of title and registration? I know from experience that the first year costs are higher than subsequent years in some states because of the title, and sales tax if it was purchased in another state.

Re: Registration costs
You are touching on a sore subject...Our vehicle registration just went up to $600 per year on the truck... The bad thing is we have eight vehicles/trailers to register and insure. The WC registration is only $305 per year, so I guess it could be worse.

Re: Registration costs
In PA my WC trailer (11,605 GVW) registration is 36.00 annual. My truck, a class 3 is 153.00 annual and my other truck, a class 2 is 86.00 annual. Cars are 36.00 and class 1 trucks are 58.50. Lighter trailers are 12.00 or 6.00 depending on the payload.
We pay a 6% sales tax at the time of purchase on all vehicles and trailers, new or used. Anything that requires a license plate.
All vehicles require PA State Safety Inspection annually and cost 23.00 and up and depends where you go. Trailers 3,001 lbs GVW or higher also get inspected.
We thought we were being over charged, looks like we're pretty cheap.

Re: Registration costs
I just renewd the tags on our truck in Davidson County, Tennessee;
$9.00 emission test and $80.00 for the tags. The 5'er is $14.00/year. It is all a flat rate in Tennessee but each county can add in a "wheel tax" if they choose.
The insurance on the 5'er is $479.00 this year, paid it last week. That is replacement value. The truck is about $450.00, it and another vehicle are under the same auto policy.

Re: Registration costs
Jim,
Here's my registration data for the current year (10/2009 to 09/2010).
BTW for those of you who don't know, in NH we register our vehicles during our birth month.
2004 Ram 2500 - MUNI = $ 88.50 ..... STATE = $129.48 ..... TOTAL $217.88
2006 Wildcat - MUNI = $207.50 ..... STATE = $103.50 ..... TOTAL $311.00
Frankly, for a northern state I always remember that the only taxes that I pay in NH are the real estate taxes. No sales tax and no state income tax. Used to work in Mass and they got me for 6.5% on the non-resident state income tax. THEY GOTTA MAKE UP FOR IT SOME WAY. I'm just glad I don't smoke, cause they just raised the tax on cigs.

Re: Registration costs
It looks like we have it good here in Ontario compared to a lot of others. I think I paid $10 to have the plate registration transferred from the old trailer to the Wildcat. All trailers here are a one time fee. I think the yearly registration cost on the F350 is around $110. Of course, when we bought the trailer, we paid 13% in taxes between the provincial sales tax and the goods and services tax!!
