Hydraulic Issue/question - Delays in deploying landing gear and slides

Post by dragynj on 4/13/2010, 5:54 am

Thought I'd bounce this one off the group.

My Hyd gear will stop during the deployment of the landing gear and the slide. Seems to happen more so when it is cold outside, but is happening more and more frequently. Not a huge issue, but an annoyance and I'm worried that it could mean something bigger. Once the landing gear/slides stop I simply wait 20-30 seconds and hit the button again. The hyd pump engages again and works OK for another couple seconds then shuts off causing me to wait. During the slide out process the pump usually stops 2-3 times before the slides are fully extended.

I'm thinking it is building pressure during these "down times"? Is it possible that I just need more hyd fluid? I have looked for leaks and see nothing in the basement or on the ground around the cat.

As always thanks in advance for any help!

Probably nothing more than an auto reset breaker tripping and then resetting itself after a few seconds.

They are usually located close to your battery with a short lead going from the positive side of the battery to the breaker.

Several on here have replaced with larger breaker or ran two breakers in parallel.

You can search the site for auto breaker or slide breaker and get a ton of info on it.

Good luck and hope its as simple as the breaker.

The auto reset breaker is the problem.
I recently ran a second one in parallel and my stopping and restarting has ceased.
The original breaker on my cat is a 50 amp, i bought (3)- 30 ampers i was going to replace it with, however when i started looking at it, the 50 still worked it just popped several times, so i added one 30 amp to it and no more problems.
I know theres a pictures on here somewhere of someone elses replacement.
I have 2 extras if you e-mail me your address i would be glad to send you one.

I think I may need to do this to because I am having the identical issue.

Where can I get on of these breakers and how do I hook it up?

Theres a link to shooters diagram for wiring in a extra pair of auto breakers.

You can get them at any RV dealer, I ordered mine off line from an electric supply place. AceHardware may have them , I havne't checked.

You can get the 50amp breakers at NAPA. The one I bought didn't have a mounting bracket but worked. I was in a pinch and didn't notice not having the bracket. Maybe they can order the breaker with the mounting bracket.
