Flat Tire changing

Post by Admin on 4/12/2010, 11:16 am

Well on my way back from orlando last friday I saw a guy pulling a big raptor toy hauler with the 3 axles.

I noticed he was about to pull over and change a flat that was on the middle tire. Kinda snickered when I went by thinking haha you gotta change a tire. just kinda thinking glad its him and not me not meaning any harm.....

Well, Sunday my dad calls and wants me to take some cows to the sale for him, about a 1 1/2 drive one way. So I run down load up 3 "big " yearlings and one big fat momma cow.
He just put a brand new set of " Power King " tires on the trailer. I do a quick walkaround and just glance at the tires and off I go.

about 20 miles down the road in the middle of no where, I feel a bump and hear a bang, at first I thought the cow fell over or something , but glanced out the side mirror and see a tire cap go flying off.

Thats when that bad karma thing kicked in,,,, Dang I shouldn't have haha'd at the guy friday.

So I jump out thank god the spare has air in it, find a cresent wrench behind the seat to get the nuts off the spare, the fourway was behind the seat for the trailer lugs, But no Jack.
Had to pull the busted tire up on the spare so I could break the lugs. No blocks of wood with me to pull the good tire up on. Only wood in the woods was some cut logs that was rotten but just enough mass to pull the good tire up on and raise the front axle so I could get the good tire up on it.

Did I mention I had cows on the trialer and floor has boards with open slits ? Cows pee a lot and crap alot and guess where the stuff goes. Yep when I pulled the bad tire up on the spare to break the lugs they let loose with both barrels, Soaked the spare with both barrels firing ,,,,, , I'm still wondering how they knew to aim in that one spot ? no towels or paper to wipe my hands with after I was through , and not a open store for the whole ride until I got where I was going. only the bottom of my pants legs for a towel. Yea I was smelling right when I got to the stock yard. Dang that karma ....

Reminds me of when I grew up on the farm. We were behind on planting the crops. Dad decided we would work on Sunday. The next week we had a total of seven (7) flats. I don't ever remember working on the farm again on Sunday but only doing the routine stuff.

Probably that guy with the triaxle Raptor!
