New 16 in. tires or monitor
I have reached the point of needing new tires for the camper. I have two options, 1. Get 16 in. E rated tires and new wheels or 2. Get new 15 in. tires and add tire pressure monitor. I have the funds for one option. I take one trip each year of about 7 to 10 thousand miles over about 2 months. Rest of the year just short local 3 to 5 day trips maybe once a month. Which do you think would be the best option.

I would go for the tire monitor, I did, and it has paid for itself the frist trip. Pick up a bolt in my new tires and it let me know

I agree with Tim, mine also paid for itself on the first trip. In your pic, it looks like you sit level, so the 16's won't help you there.

Thanks for the input. I have been leaning toward the monitor but there has been a lot of information indicating the advantages of 16 in. E rated tires so I wanted to get some more opinions.

Personally I would go with the 16 inch LT Load Range E tires, check the pressures before each trip and then forget about tire problems. Maybe the ST tires have gotten better over the years but I doubt it. When a ST tire explodes at 65 MPH the damage is already done. Just my two cents worth.

To help me decide, I have another question about monitors. Can the batteries in the tire sensors be replaced or do you have to buy new sensors when the batteries go bad?
