About to take a trip.

About to take a trip.
It will not be long before we hit the road. We are going via I 80 from Calif. to Indiana. Then down to Kentucky, then up to Bangor Maine, down to the Florida keys and then back. "Weather will have a huge factor in where our route goes." I don't like hail or tornadoes or hurricanes.
The main reason for this thread is that I wish more CG's had RV wash stations. I like a clean rig, and know that after about 50 or so miles from home, the front is covered with bugs, especially in May when all sorts of critters are flying around. The last time we tried this trip, we ran into tornadoes in Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas. Also had a family emergency. Also saw $4.85 diesel. I hope THIS trip is uneventful. Our house sitter is ready, our dog is ready, and we are ready. I should say that our dog does have a biopsy coming up, but we are hopeful that all is good with him.
We hope all of you have a great summer and that your camping trips are all free from problems.

Have you calculated total miles? How many weeks are you allowing for the trip?

It will be over 10,000 miles and we have scheduled two months with the house sitter. We are retired, so only time constraint is with the house sitter.

Hope you guys have smooth sailing and enjoy every second of your trip.
If you travel I 64 east through Kentucky into West Virginia on your way to Maine you'll be within 2 miles of my house.

Maxtor,
Here at Asheville East KOA we will allow campers to wash their rigs, as long as they use one of the sites on the back lot (where the Workampers live). They have to ask of course, but we've not turned down those who do ask. We don't advertise this, but do allow it. One thing though, we don't allow washing on week-ends when the CG is crowded, only Monday thru Thursday.
So, the next time you need to wash off the rig, try asking ..... all they can say is no, but you might get lucky.

I am not sure of our route out of Kentucky. Oldelmer1 is meeting us there and Mrs. Oldelmer1 is doing the navigating. I think we are going north on 75 into Ohio,, but not sure.

Thanks for the information.. Like you say,,, it doesn't hurt to ask. Many CG's have signs up saying no washing of RV's.

I've washed the nose many times while I am setting up still hooked to the truck ( I stand on my toolbox ), and never had any complaints. Of coarse I do try to be polite about it and not make a big show. Just a quick wipe down with soapy water and then a rinse.
