Back from Bay St. Louis, MS
My wife and I are back from our month long trip to Bay St. Louis, MS. I doubt that we will ever bother going back to that area again. Not much to do unless you really enjoy gambling. Once you’ve seen the two casinos, toured the Stennis Space Center, and perhaps do a swamp tour in Louisiana, that’s pretty much about it.
We didn’t care for the beaches in the Waveland/Bay St. Louis area. Sitting on the beach was more like sitting next to a lake, there was no wave action because of the barrier islands farther from shore. The water wasn't blue either, instead it was more of a brown river color.
There is still much to do before that area recovers from the effects of hurricane Katrina. Here’s a photo of one of the more unusual sights we saw as we drove through the area. It’s a church that was washed into the drainage ditch on the side of the road. It has been sitting there since Katrina. The side of the church not showing in the photo was completely demolished. I have no clue where the church originally sat.

There is a lot of debris between the shoreline and the barrier islands, and it has nowhere to go. We used to drive down to the beach and watch the dolphins playing in the water - but we seldom got out of the car.
Glad you got home okay.
