Identify this photo

Post by scottz on 3/27/2010, 8:20 am

First topic message reminder :

Let's try something fun. Everyone is going to be heading out camping soon, I thought we could post photos and have people guess where they are. Here's the ground rules (this is a work in progress, so expect changes):

1. I'll post one photo (or multiple photos of one location) at a time. After it is identified, we can start over with a new one. I'll start us off with this one; after it is identified someone else can post another photo.

2. The photo must have a unique characteristic so it can be identified. A photos of a camp site in the pines is nice, but it has to have something unique to identify it from all the other camp site photos.

3. Once a photo is identified, we will start again.

Correct.

Did you go through the museum? We got there too late for the indoor museum, but were able to walk around all the pumps etc. that were in the outdoor self guided tour.

We stayed at Oil Patch RV Park.

No, the only time I was in Texas was a stopover at the DFW for a layover. I noticed there were no mountains in the background so it had to be in the midwest or southern states.

But after searching Google images, I found it. I figured it'd have to be in Texas close to your location. Is that cheating?

Actually, I don't know if there are any official rules. I have one that I self-impose on myself. If I find the answer in Google, I wait a day or so. That way, if someone knows the answer from experience, they can have a shot at it. If I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but want to check it, I search Google, then I don't feel I have to wait so long to reply. But, like I said, I'm not aware of any rules - it's just to have fun.

Scruffy,
Have no clue where a silver metal pointy thingy would be growing out of the side of a hill with a solar panel behind it!!

I agree with Frank and scottz on the other pic. Petroglyphs in Moab, Utah. Drove right by a place like that in May when I went wheeling out there....

Appears to be somewhere in the southwest. Where else would you find a solar powered, metal cactus?

This metal cactus sits on the hill off I-40 West at the "Albuquerque City Limit" sign.
Albuquerque, New Mexico

I type in Scott's clue "Appears to be somewhere in the southwest. Where else would you find a solar powered, metal cactus?"

I don't know about the solar power. We've never been through there after dark. I suppose it could have a spotlight lighting it up at night.

I'm running out of pictures.

I would say its Penns Landing in Philly, since its a picture of a Duck Boat, but the water looks too clean to be Philly. Laughing
