Antenna
Still trying to catch up with the whole digital conversion and the HDTV over the air. I haven't spent much time in our camper over the last year, but what I do know is the over the air did not work last year. No real worries though, we had DirecTV and plenty of DVD's. Is all I have to do to get that Antenna to work for my TV is buy a digital converter box? I have the antenna that 99% of all campers come with, do I need to replace it? I'm looking at getting a new TV for the WC, would a new TV have the correct digital tuner for the antenna?
Sorry, lots of questions. Thanks in advance!!

The new TV will have the correct tuner or you could get a tuner box. We tried last year to find a converter box and no luck, so we bought a new TV.

Re: Antenna
Your factory antenna is fine.
Any TV manufactured after '07 should have a digital tuner. My advice is get a new flat panel HD TV and skip the converter box.

Go as big as you can squeeze in the ent. center. You won't regret it.
I wish I could figure out how to squeeze a 50" in there myself. It would be almost like being at a Imax theater inside the cat.

Re: Antenna
You could attach it to the ceiling with a hinge, don't forget a big sound system.

Re: Antenna
You shouldn't have any problems with the digital converter box. We have an old TV in one of our bedrooms. We hooked it to a digital converter box and rabbit ears antenna. The picture is great and we get lots of channels. Actually, before we could find the old rabbit ears, we just screwed a piece of coax into the back of the box and it made a fine antenna. When our Direct TV goes down during a storm (our big snowfall put it out for about a day), we can still get local programming on our little old tv. I know we could get local channels on our living room TV, which we gave each other for Christmas, but I don't know how to switch over from Direct TV to local. It's probably easy.

The only thing that I don't like about the new digital tuners is that you have to scan for available channels every time you move to another location. Oh well, it's a small price to pay for those HD television shows.

You mentioned that over the air did not work. Did you turn on the antenna booster? I know our very first trip out we had forgotten the dealer telling us about it, and we could not get TV over the air.
