Concertone Replacement suggestions

Post by Lograf on 3/21/2010, 4:59 pm

From what I see I'm not the only one with Concertone issues. Mine won't play a DVD or CD anymore. It's the ZX500. Looking for suggestions as to what everyone is replacing them with. Are there still Concertones out there anymore? I never really used it for TV but it was nice for the kids to watch DVD's if we were stuck inside.

Thanks, Lograf

to the Wildcat Forums...

I'm looking at replacing my Concertone with a Jensen unit when it finally craps out all together:

http://www.jensenrvdirect.com/index.php?page=product_details&id=9

Somebody has or had extra Concertones for sale in the classified section. You should check it out if you want to go that route.

We've had our Concertone replaced four times with no long-term luck. The fifth time will be a more reliable unit.

Try this web site. http://www.concertone.com/about_us.html

500 lasted 3 years and my 600 lasted 3 months. Getting another 600 soon. Being replaced under the 1 year warranty.

As posted in response to thread questions, Concertone now offers a replacement program depending upon your chassis size that provides you the latest system for less than half price of new. Checkout http://concertone.com/service_plan_explanation.html for more info.

Where do you see $400???

The Service Plan is $249 for A and $149 for B!

Are you talking about the addition of the "Core Charge" that you get back when you send us back the old unit?

Doesn't sound too bad to me. $250 is less than half price.

Bob, do you know if it is "plug & play"? Will the wiring harness I have for my ZX550/ZX600 plug right into the ZX690?

The ZX700 has a different wiring harness, but if you have a ZX500, ZX550 & ZX600 you can use the ZX690 Adapter Cable.
http://concertone.com/zx690adptr.html
This will make it "plug & play"

All I know is when U hit add to cart it say the service plan is 399. I do not knowing anything about a core charge. See if this link works.

It clearly says $249 + 150 core charge that is refundable after you return your old unit.

SO HOW DOES IT WORK?

1. Select the Service / Repair Program and follow the instructions for purchasing. You will be charged for the Service / Repair Program PLUS $150 or $100 deposit (depending on the Service Program you select) for your old unit (Core Charge).
2. You will receive your NEW unit within 7 Business Days.
3. Remove the old unit from your RV and replace with NEW Unit.
4. Package old unit in box provided with NEW unit.
5. Ship the old unit back to us following the shipping instructions within 30 days.
6. CONCERTONE® will refund your Core Charge by check within thirty (30) days of receipt and verification of your old unit.
7. ENJOY!

If Bob can get a Chassis "A" unit with a Digital tuner/converter, I'd do it for $250.

And yes, Bob, I still have old 12V TVs lacking digital tuners in my trailer. (3 to be exact - bunk house, living room, front bedroom). I don't plan on upgrading my RV TVs anytime soon. My house would get them first. Not to mention 2 of the 3 TV are 12V models which is nice for drycamping. Granted I do have an inverter and generator, I don't always want to fire things up just to watch TV.

WHERE. FOLLOW MY LINK AND SHOW ME. ANOTHER PERSON HAS SEEN THE SAME THING ALREADY. In the check out cart is says Service Plan 399.00. It is confusing. What the check out cart should say to be correct is Service Plan x amount of dollars and refundable core is x amount of dollars and it does not say that. Appears to be saying one thing on one page and another on the check out cart. Until it is fixed I would stay far away from any purchase. I have been bit by things like this before.

I don't disagree with you. If I were to do it, I'd want to see the $150 listed as a core charge separate from the $249. It'd be nice if they offered other options rather than just Paypal. I.e. credit card.

No kidding it needs to be separate. You wait 30 days and no refund. You call concertone and ask were is my refund. They say refund you bought a service contract. After 30 years in the military I have learned the hard way to watch everything real close. I learned a hard lesson when I let my guard down and got bit real bad when I bought my trailer and I vowed never to let it happen again.

I guess you could also dispute it with Paypal to get the $150 back. I'm sure Bob will have it fixed.

I don't think you have to redo the wiring if you get the adapter harness. The newer model is supposed to fit in the same hole.

Sorry didn't see that. I just clicked on the add to cart and saw the final number and assumed that was the price. I didn't see the core refund. But with all due respect to you and your product, I will still venture out on my own when this one fails. We are going on the 2nd year with the 2nd replacement and this one has glitches too......just waiting for final failure like the others. So I guess I will be darned to purchase another with a one year warranty, just to see it fail like the rest. The only saving grace with the others, was that they failed before the 2 year warranty was up. I have had alot of electronics over the years in many different vehicles, but this product is the first to fail with such frequency.

The pricing they are showing is inconsistent. Use these two pages and you get what I quoted above:

http://concertone.com/service_plan_explanation.html

The following comes from the link above:

7. ENJOY!

Sound good? Here's how to get started...

Select one of the two options below:
Option 1: Service Plan - CONCERTONE® Chassis Size A - This option will provide a NEW ZX690 to replace or upgrade your chassis "A" size equipment (Mounting hole size in inches (W x H) 6.75 x 9.5 - please visit product gallery to understand what equipment you have).

Clicking on the Add to Cart button which follows the above text takes you to:

https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_flow&SESSION=_0et1s6SR-22ghFIrvKCY8hmHXpxYlj6IJe7RzkIemvvX6mWRxCsasy269a&dispatch=50a222a57771920b6a3d7b606239e4d529b525e0b7e69bf0224adecfb0124e9b61f737ba21b081985230a0d2e1cd989dfdb476d0cbcd3a80

The contnet there is:

Your Shopping Cart Description Price Quantity Amount
Service Plan - Concertone Chassis Size A
Item # 0001
399.95 quantity|

$399.95
Item total:$399.95

I have followed this link provided above: http://concertone.com/spa.html and I see the pricing there is different but how does one find that page (other than the direct link pasted here)? I do not see a a path to get there.
