32QBBS New wheels and tires

Post by JKFOURBOYS on 3/21/2010, 11:03 am

I did it. Finally after year or two of pondering, I installed 16 inch wheels and tires. The wheels are Alcoa and the tires are 225/75/16. The one concern I have is under the kitchen slide-out side is a bar that rotates. The clearance is about 1 ¼ or so inches…I don’t think it will be a problem.

I will say the peace of mind is much better with these tires and wheels. I have a couple of pictures, but not real sure how to upload to this website.

As far as tire size goes you should be fine. My 09 32QBBS came from the factory with 235/80/16 load range E's on 16x6 aluminum rims.

I was wondering if 235/85/16 BF Goodrich commercial T/A Load E on 2008 32QBBS will have any clearance issues?

Thanks in advance

I found this cool tire size calculator http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

But the question still is, will 235/85/16 BF Goodrich commercial T/A Load E on 2008 32QBBS have any clearance issues?

Well, I went for it and put the 235/85/16 BF Goodrich commercial T/A Load E with new rims, WOW, these things have some meat on them compared to the 15" DURO's I had. The 15" rims and tires made it look like I had training wheels compared to these. There is no clearance issues...just need to jack the trailer up higher to put them on. I full confidence that I will have no problems on our 3000 mile trip in a few weeks.

As soon as I can get around to it new tires will be the next wildcat mod. I will be getting the 238/85/16 BFG commercial T/A's as well. Have you towed your cat with them yet? Curious to know if there is any noticeable difference.

Had 16 inch rims on mine from factor. Never any clearance problems. I bought BCT JK42 HI-RUN Trailer only tires from my dealer. There are ST 235/85R16's. Also had them balanced for better life. Load range F or 10 ply. Lot better than the 6 ply I got with the trailer.

Wondering what rims you bought. May change my factory ones.
