Scare lights
First topic message reminder :
Hello all, just bought a 2003 28BH. Have been going through it to check everything out and haven't found a switch to operate the scare lights. Right inside the door is a panel with 3 light switches. One is for the porch light, one is for the living area lights, the third I haven't found to work anything. Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

That was my point to the dealer. I asked why it was possible for a purchase order to be accepted and acknowledged by the manufacturer stating all packages and add ons if it wasn't going to be honored. No where did it say "wish list." As a manufacturer, go ahead and change things that aren't specifically stated on a purchase order. I think those type of changes are covered in their fine print but not the itemized things on a purchase order.
I'm also stuck with a propane only water heater. Silly me thought all 6 gallon RV hot water tanks were able to run on either electric or propane. Lesson learned.
I always buy used, but if I did buy new and this happened to me. I would UNorder the RV, and demand my deposit. If it failed, I'd file a small claim. If it's on the PO, then it better be on the RV, period. Sounds like you had a dealer not on your side.

Re: Scare lights
I have the 28rk with the 3 switches inside the door. 1=porch and under the step light 2= interior lights 3=both scare lights as some call them, i have always hated the fact that i could not turn off the light on the drivers side while useing the door side to play card games. So after 2 hrs of tring to trace the wires with no luck, i stood outside staring at the light when i realized it was directly on the other side of my closet. I came up with a simple and quick fix, i removed the light cover and drilled a hole into the closet area where i took the hot wire from the light and threaded it back into the closet and put in a switch,so as long as that switch is off the light is off but remember to turn it on, the door side light has to be on and that switch turned back on. would be nice to turn them on seperatly but this will work for me.

Re: Scare lights
I ended up with no TV hook up on the outside and Salem plastic fenders because of that. Dealer helped me the fenders. So based on that you never know what U will get from FR and it may not match your buddies trailer.

Re: Scare lights
While I'm not a lawyer (thankfully), I would say those words on the brochure are talking about FRs right to change whats in there at any time without notice.
If you order it with something, and it's agreed that it can have that option, then if they pulled that one out you'd easily have a case. If I was the dealer, on the other hand, the right thing to do would be to make the customer happy. If it didn't come with something ordered, fix it.

My missing items were all items that were standard at the time and than pulled and no longer used. I got all the options I ordered. Also got some new standard items.

Re: Scare lights
Regarding scare lights:
Obtain a small toggle switch, SPST.
Scare light switch is turned off, before starting the project.
I removed the scare light lens on the street side, drilled a small hole, at the bottom of the lens, to receive the switch toggle. (Lens is marked "TOP". When mounted on the trailer, the toggle switch should be pointing down.) Then, cut the single wire at the bulb socket, leaving enough length to reach both terminals on the switch. Hook up the switch, then install the toggle switch in the hole in the lens, sealing around the switch with a small amount of caulk. Re-mount lens on the trailer.
Turn on the scare lights, and test the new switch, to see what position is off. Leave it off, if desired, and the scare light on the curb side, will be the only one in service, unless you want both on. Then, it is a simple matter to flip the toggle to the on position, using the awning wand.

Re: Scare lights
We don't turn on our scare lights unless we need to do some work at night on the driver's side of the trailer. We usually have enough light on the passenger side of the trailer. We turn them on at night if we hear a strange noise. I think that's what they are for. That bright light that comes from the scare lights would be annoying for our neighbors. We have a porch light and step light that have a different switch. We'd really like to have a switch for the scare lights up in the bedroom as that is where we usually are when we hear strange bumps in the night.

Re: Scare lights
In the summer, the light under the door (behind the steps) attracts a lot of skeeters. I hate skeeters. Has anyone ever put in a different color bulb/lens? I know that red will attract almost no bugs. Blue also seems a good color. Yellow will decrease the number some, but I've not had great success with yellow solving the problem. DW says we will NOT, I repeat, NOT have a red light outside our door.
Anyway, has anyone tried a different color and what have the results been?

The sound of a round being chambered in the dark is an awsome way to save your scare lights.....

I have white LEDs in both with yellow covers
We do the same as TATER. DO not use them. When I sneak up behind the thief to take a picture with my new Polaroid 45 I do not want to be blinded by the light. Plus is does annoy the neighbors.

Re: Scare lights
I've never noticed a lot of mosquitos around our step light, but we do most of our camping in the colder months when there aren't any mosquitos. We have the yellow covers over the porch and step lights. I don't like mosquitos, but they sure do like me.
