Time For A Correction

Post by Scruffy and Tater on 3/17/2010, 11:07 am

Something has been bugging me ever since we got the Cat. The wooden trim behind the clock wasn't finished on the back side. It was easy to see from the sofa. I don't know if it was an oversight by Forest River or if all of the Cats are that way.

I finally fixed it. Here are before and after photos.

I see that the fan needs cleaning.

The only thing like that bugging me so for on the 09 32QBBS is the laundry chute. The rough cut hole int he floor is ugly as hell. I am thinking about putting a molding down to cover the rough edges and keep the linoleum down. May even put a hinged door on there. Also the plywood under the settee has rough edges. Would it have killed Forrest River to pass a sander on these parts??

I agree with BayouDude- That hole is ugly and rough- I don't know if
forest river owns any sanders.

Our laundry chute hole has a [ shaped plastic molding all the way around the hole. Its the thickness of the floor and wraps under and over the floor. Nice and smooth.

Where is your guys chute?

Same here. It is under the bathroom sink and is just a rough cut hole through the floor and linoleum. The flooring is unglued all around the hole and looks like it was cut by a monkey with a jigsaw. They should be embarrassed to sell a $40k trailer and advertise that rough hole in the floor as a feature. The quality standards in the Marine vs RV markets are in different leagues.

Ours is in the bathroom vanity under the sink and was finished with a piece of plastic at the factory. Here's a pic.

I cut a board and plugged the laundry chute. which was under the bath room sink.
I do not know how true this following is I have heard of a small child crawling up through the laundry chute and going to the door and unlocking it so an adult could get in the trailer and steal items from the trailer.

That would be a very small child for our chute!!! We use it as a cat door so they can get down to the litter box, and it is sized just right for them. I would have a hard time throwing a pair of jeans through the hole.

I can confirm the small child crawling through the shoot since ours did the very thing five years ago. Pretty funny the first time she did it and we got a real kick out of it. But no the hole is covered to prevent any cold air from the basement rising. Also, the unfinished clock was something we noticed right away and corrected the second week we had the rig.

I'm kind of funny that way about unfinished things...

Re: Time For A Correction

Post by Scruffy and Tater on 4/4/2010, 5:30 am

Years ago, when our kids were very young, we had a Prowler TT. It was cold and sleeting, and we stopped at a rest area that didn't have facilities to use our bathroom. Our door was froze shut. Scruffy just couldn't open it. Our Prowler had outside storage doors that accessed the storage area under the front dinette seats - with doors on the inside as well. Scruffy pulled the stuff out of the storage area, pushed the storage door open on the inside, and our son crawled through and was able to unlock and push open the door.

Even though we liked having the laundry chute, we covered it to prevent the cold or hot air from entering the living area.

Mine is under the bathroom sink. A pain to get to but handy. The rug that covers the ceiling inside the pass thru needs to be reattached. The clothes are pulling it away from the plywood. Need to put some wood trim around. The plastic insert would be nice to have. 2006 30RLBS WC.

BayouDude Our trailer was built on Saturday using students from Oregon State who were still drunk. Forset River had some major QC issues in 2006.
