Blue Highway Fuel Stops

Post by schrowang on 3/16/2010, 12:39 pm

www.aitaonline.com/TS/Truck%20Stops.html

This URL will take you to the Truck Stop page of America's Independent Truckers' Association (AITA). It lists truck stops by state, but more importantly it includes truck stops on the numbered US Highways as well as major State Roads. This has come in handy for the DW and I as we've wandered the "Blue Highways" and found ourselves looking for a fuel stop that would accomodate our Wildcat in tow.

See ya' down the road somewhere .....

It has an extensive list, but how old is it?

I clicked on the Nebraska link just to see what all is along I-80, and they list a truck stop in Omaha that has been closed for quite some time.

Because of that, I would be wary of it's reliability.

TC,

I used the list on our trip last year in OK, AZ, UT, CO & NY. Had no problem. Even "The Next Exit" and "Exit Now" can be wrong once in a while, but they're all good resources.

Outta here .....

When we do long hauls, one of my greatest fears, is pulling off the road for a "scheduled stop", just to find out the fuel station is all boarded up. I've run into several like that along I-80 in Iowa. With the economy the way its been, it wouldn't surprise me if it's like that all over the country.
