The closet and hangers

Post by dmcathey on 3/11/2010, 7:01 am

I unpacked everything into the new camper - and now I am wondering if you have to have special sized hangers for the closet. The sliding doors won't close with the hangers on the rack... wondering if anyone has had this issue. Do you have to find smaller hangers, or unscrew the rack and move it back (if you even can)?

We use smaller hangers. I think walmart. I think our door closed but was tight. You can get hangers made for kids clothes

We moved our rod back a little bit. We've read other reports where people had this same problem... and some of them did the same (moved the rod). It's holding very well. Hangers for kids clothes won't work for us.... they leave bumps in shoulders.

We moved the rod back also.

We bought the white plastic hangers that Walmart sells, the 10 pack ones. Then I took wire cutters and gently cut part of the hook off so they are easier to unhook from the rod. I would always struggle to get the hanker out of the hole, cutting about 3/4 of the end off solved that problem. I also marked all the hangers with a red sharpie so we can find which ones are meant for the camper.

We use the smaller hangers in the closet next to the bed but the larger ones in the other two closets.

I did change out the metal rod with the holes for a regular wooden closet rod and have not had any problems with hangers coming off the rod.

I try to get the plastic hangers that have the metal hooks. The ones that swivel. that way they can move on the rod.
Like the ones JC Penny uses.
I have to use a large hanger. When I hang a Knit 3 button shirt on a hanger I hang it inside out so it won't cause shoulder bumps

That's a great idea to turn the shirts inside out. I will have to try that. I also cut the hanger hook a little shorter and the hangers come out easier.

I guess they (F.R.) made the modifications to the 2010 model because normal hangers work well and clear my sliding closet doors.

Ours is 2010 as well.. We moved the rod back today and that helped. It is still a little tight, but the sliders shut now.

Ours is a 2009 rlbs and it works fine. We mostly use the WalMart plastic hangers.

Our 30RLBS works fine. Our troube was the rod. Sagged in the middle. I moved the light closer to the front of the trailer and put a hook right over the rod. Turned the rod so the sag was up and placed it in the hook at that position. Now no more clothes in the middle of the trailer closet.
