RVPARKREVIEWS.COM
I use rvparkreviews.com in my search for campgrounds to stay at. I’ve always known that some reviews have to be taken with a grain of salt. Lately, it seems as though the majority of reviews are no longer even close to be reliable.
The last three reviews of Bay Hide Away RV park were 10/10, 9/10, and 9/10. How can a park be rated this high when the roads are gravel, the sites are gravel and require leveling, the WiFi is unreliable, and the park doesn’t sell propane? This park should never be rated higher than a 7, and that’s being generous.
When researching this area I also considered stay at Cajun RV park in Biloxi, MS. The last three reviews for that park were 8/10, 8/10, and 10/10. We drove through Cajun RV park over the weekend. Holy Cow! It looked more a gravel parking lot with a small paved golf cart path going through it. The RV’s spaces were way too close together for my liking. When we first entered the park I thought I was looking at their storage lot. After driving through Cajun I’m much happier with the park I’m staying at, and that’s not saying much.
IMHO, I feel that rvparkreviews.com has changed from a decent website for researching RV parks to an almost totally useless website.

This is good to know as we used this for our trip out west this summer.
We are staying at a KOA at Mt Rushmore and Rocky Mountain RV park. North Entrance Yellowstone. They both seemed ok. Hope they are

Richard,
I read somewhere to look at the number of past posts that the people posting have, someone said that the CG employees/owners are posting GREAT reviews on their own CG's.

Re: RVPARKREVIEWS.COM
Tom,
I agree with you about fake reviews. Employees, family, and friends can write reviews. These people might not have any other posts listed, but might have reviews using different IDs.
Richard,
I didn't want to inject my own personal feelings when I posted the photos of Bay Hide-a-way, but Scruffy and I weren't impressed. BUT, considering what is around there, Bay Hide-a-way might be a good choice for the money. High rollers might get a good price at Hollywood, and would probably be welcome for an entire month, but it would cost more to gamble enough to get into that category than it would to pay a premium price for an excellent campground.
In the mid 80's, when we moved to Gulfport, MS, Scruffy stayed in a campground there for a couple months while I finished up the school year (I was an elementary school secretary). It wasn't fancy, but it filled our needs well. At that time, it was called Gaywood Campground on Lorraine-Cowan Road. Now it is owned by some group and the name has been changed to Baywood. We haven't stayed there since, but have talked about going back. Another one we stayed at for a night recently was Mazelea RV Park in Biloxi. It was right off I-10. There were lots of trees, that helped block some of the highway noise. Mazalea and Baywood are owned by the same people.
Another one we look at every time we go through there is at the NE corner of the intersection of I-10 and Hwy 49- behind a shopping center. We don't know anything about the place, but might like the location for an overnight as we're passing through.

Scruffy and Tater;
When I read your post about this campground I had a feeling you weren't too impressed with the park and I thought that perhaps we should look elsewhere. It's just as well we didn't because we probably would have ended up at Cajun RV park.
I am kicking myself for not jumping on the opportunity to go to Island Retreat RV park in Gulf Shores, AL when they called us with an opening. SIL.
This park will just have to do, but next year I think we will try Florida.

I don't use RVParkReviews anymore. Too many opinions that don't mesh at all. When it comes to campgrounds...one mans trash is anothers treasure.
One of my favorite campgrounds got terrible reviews. The WiFi stinks and there is no grass, mostly dirt. But the sites are large and it is well treed. Don't care about the WiFi and, the dirt comes with the territory.

Re: RVPARKREVIEWS.COM
Campers are interesting people as the DW and I have found during our three seasons here at Asheville East KOA. One of the old chestnuts that we quote quite often is, "Campers - can't live with em' and can't live without em'!"
Here are some observations that we've made over the past few years:
MOST DEMANDING - many of the RVers we see with very large motor coaches seem to be the most demanding. "But why don't you have level concrete pads for us?" (non of our campsites have this feature). "I absolutely have to have a pull through." (we only have three on the campground and folks are told this when they call for reservations.) You get the idea.
LEAST DEMANDING - seems that familys out for a good time (tent, pop-up, small TT and FW) are the least demanding and the friendliest.
When I use RVParkReviews, I gauge the comments by the type of RV that was listed. Motorhome owner = whiner to me. "Why can't you cut down the tree that's blocking my satellite signal."
Seems that the more positive comments are made by those who travel in FWs and TTs. Conversely the most critical seem to be from folks who travel in motorhomes.
Yeah, yeah, I know. There are wonderful people out there that travel in MHs and we've met many of them here at AEastKOA.
But, as a rule of thumb, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Later ......

Re: RVPARKREVIEWS.COM
We always stay at Shepard State Park when we travel through or spend a weekend. It is about 20 - 30 minutes East of Biloxi, but it is a nice drive and the park is great. It is right on a bay off of the Gulf. Since we usually get there after the park closes, they leave me a key to the gate so we can get in. They are very friendly there.
