Snowing & warm weather dreaming

Post by Ak Ronnie on 3/8/2010, 8:25 am

Well, its snowing and reading posts by others, I'm getting the road trip travel "bug" to head for warmer climate. Problem is, we can't go due to other commitments. Not looking for sympathy, but wanted to say thanks for the input of places to go and fun times. Enjoy reading the forum and we will get our chance. As a side note, had a good king salmon trip, didn't catch many but scenery was beautiful and the ocean water is clear where you can see 40 feet down. Snow is 6 in & rising fast.

Do you know a Jim Deckard who lives in Ketchikan?

Sorry I don't know Jim Deckard. Have you visited Ketchikan?

Yes, we took a cruise to Alaska, and we visited with Jim when we were there. He works at a fish hatchery in Ketchikan. I think your population is around 15,000. Ketchikan is a beautiful island.

We've had a beautiful week-end here in western NC. In the 60's both Sat & Sun and 65 today. The sun was out and mostly the snow has finally melted off the north facing mountain sides. I think spring is finally here.

Maxtor, sounds like you had a great trip to SE Alaska. Cruise ship travel is most popular, although for those travelers desiring more time, the Alaska State Ferry provides excellent service. Once in a while, I've seen a Wildcat parked at the resort near where we live, & next time I'll have to go over & introduce myself (might be a member of this forum). My wife & I have been here 38 years and our son is captain on the State ferries and we could help locate some of the local attractions.

A trip I've been thinking about is to go to Florida's theme parks with the grand kids and eventually visit Apalachicola area beaches in March or April (next year). Anybody have good campground/recommendations for there or western NC? Sixty-five degrees sounds great at this time of year.
