Rear Wall separating?

Post by moo2613 on 3/8/2010, 3:33 am

While washing the Cat this weekend, I noticed an oddity on the driver side rear corner. Where the sidewall meets the rear end "wall / molding", it looked like somebody had pealed all the caulking away. Upon further investigation, either the rear wall has moved back about 1/4" - 1/2" on that side of the cat or the side wall has moved forward (I don't think that is possible). The side wall is also now sticking out just a hair past the molding, I can push it back in, but not easily.

Question is, should I just caulk it up and go trade it in? We have been seriously considering this option anyhow since we want a little more room. Or should I try to take the molding off and put things back together? I will try to get pics later today.

Thanks for any thoughts / experience with an issue like this.

Something else for all of us to check. We haven't had this problem ...... yet. It seems that whenever someone with a Cat that's older than ours has a problem, we can almost expect to have the same problem in the future.

Will look at your pics and try to suggest something.

Here are some pics, Admin, if there are too many, delete some (even though I know you love pics, they take up alot of server space)

View from the rear looking forward, The brown line in the middle is the inside of the wall.

Here are some views from the side

While I was out taking pictures tonight, I noticed this bubble in thie side wall also.

Hate to say it, but if you are thinking of trading it, I would just do it and get on with life. Not going to be worth your effort to try to fix it.

That bubble is definately a problem, probably has a water leak up around the roof line.

Thanks Huntr, that is the same conclusion I have come to unless somebody has a great idea. We just really love our Cat and can't decide what to upgrade to. If the 31TS had more counter space, the decision would be easy.

Sorry to see your problems. Not sure about the seperation but the bubble looks familar. We have that same bubble and about that size on the upper corner of our slide. Oh ya, the carpet was wet under the table. I did recaulk the roof line there and didn't seem to leak anymore.
I would caulk up that sidewall and send her on her way.
If here in WI, I would say it froze and call insurance to help.
Good luck.
