Middle of no where Wildcat

Post by Schleprock on 2/25/2010, 11:35 am

Completed a job in Casper Wyoming and had to get to another one in Scotts Bluff Nebraska. Took the scenic route and even had time to stop and admire the wagon ruts from the pioneers on the Oregon Trail as well as the "Register Cliffs" where they carved thier names into the cliff (found one dated 1855). That is some seriously TOUGH bunch of campers!

Headed out of Guernsy (sp?) Wyoming and some time later passed this little CG.....the Pony Soldier RV park somewhere between Guernsy Wyoming and Scotts Bluff Nebraska.

Later model Cat (had the older decals). Didn't stop to see if anyone was home......

Sounded like fun. Where was it you stopped to look at the wagon ruts ? I'd like to see that.

Im pretty sure it was Guernsy Wyoming. Coming West to east on State Highway 26 right thru the heart of Guernsey the signs are well marked to the parking lot. I took the "ramped" access to the top and came down the opposite side with all the markers and interesting info signs.
I would recommend heading up the left side of the restrooms (opposite of the arrows pointing you to the ruts) Then you can read the info in the correct order.

After the ruts, when you head out. Go right away from town to register cliffs. That was pretty cool!

Enjoy!

Schleprock,
Wish I'd have been paying attention and known you were coming to Scottsbluff. Been neat to put a face with a name. That older cat has been sitting at Pony Soldier in the same place for at least 3 years that I know of. Occassionally see a vehicle with it in the summer, but I often wondered whats up with that too?

Seems I have been making more and more trips to the "out lying" machines lately. Casper, Scotts Bluff, North Platte, and Sidney! Was at the Sidney sight this morning and Cabela's this afternoon!!

If I can remember before I head up that way again, I will PM you and let you know when I'm in town. Usually stay over night depending on the problem and when I get the call to come fix it.....
