New Interior Lights

Post by robertz675 on 2/17/2010, 3:33 am

I finally bit the bullet after fooling around with plug-ins, led bulbs, etc. I replaced all of the interior ceiling lights with LED fixtures from http://commandelectronics.com/ I am so glad that I did. They are pricey, but well worth it. It is now much brighter than ever before. It is also nice when I shave I don't have that hot bulb near my head. If you can afford them, buy them. You will not be disappointed. I am going to get a reading on the power drain.

Did you use the plug in board module or replace the whole fixtures? I am looking to do this as well since I don't like leaving those 12v incandescents on for any length of time because of the heat. I may be crazy but they seem like they would be a fire hazard if left on all day by accident. The lower battery draw would be an added benefit

I replaced the entire fixture so that there was no chance of it not fitting properly and I am glad I did. The same place also has it available in light only. The new fixture comes with a frosted lens that "smooths" out the light. I agree with you on the heat and fire factor. I have had to replace the on/off switch in the wall because it was melted. I had replaced the one over the sink with a led some time ago. We leave it on all the time and it never gets warm. I am a firm believer in led lights. I have been slowly replacing the lights in the house with them. We have them in the kitchen under the wall cabinets and under the toe kick. We never get tired of the "wow" factor.
