I spend a lot of time in Moab, but have not actully been to Dead Horse. You won't have problems with urban lighting and these types of campgrounds seldom have lights.

Kevin,

On our way out to Canyonlands NP last summer we passed the turnoff for Dead Horse Point. We didn't see a light along the road for miles and miles. You should have some good viewing there.

once you find that special spot with the zillion star view your jaw will drop. you'll look up and think theres no way we;re alone.

I found a spot in Co called Lynx's Pass , I think it was west of winter park, co. little campground out in the middle of no where.

had a million dollar view of a Zillion stars.

The best I have seen is the Arizona desert during the winter.

We often camp west of Phoenix in the Harquahala Mountains. The clear night skies are some of the best. Utah and Nevada also have many remote areas where night skies are outstanding. Nothing beats laying out on a warm summer evening with a cold beer counting the satellites.
