Of course we did. Explain to me why anyone would have staged such a thing; what would be the point? Is anyone going to claim that the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs (you young guys, look them up) were staged? Scott Carpenter and many other astronauts are still alive; go ask one of them. Do you think all the space shuttle flights are fake?
We could do it and we did; don't make me prove it again!
Hey Scottz;
Here is something that we all can ponder:
We all have heard from some of our space leaders, that we are planning to visit the stars. With our fastest space craft, it would take 113,000 years to get to the closest star to our solar system, Alpha Centauri one way... 4.3 AU which means 4.3 light years away. Who knows, maybe a thousand or so years from now, we might have a space ship that can make it there and back in a humans life time.
It is fascinating to me to join others and ponder these problems, to find solutions. We have a "think tank" of four guys who meet from time to time to discuss these and other issues.
There are no real problems,,, just solutions.
Or we can wait 4.5 Billion years when the Andromeda galaxy collides with our galaxy, and should bring stars closer to us. About this time, (5 Billion years)our sun will become a Red Giant and engulf the earth anyway.
But more likely, when the galaxies collide, our solar system will either be smashed by other stars and planets or be thrown out into space. After time, both galaxies will become one super galaxy.

Re: Think Tank
Heres another one I saw discussed years ago.
If you were to reverse time to just before Trex, and started all over again would humans come around again or would we even exist ?
Man apple computers can take on some strange twist's.

That's the problem; current technology prohibits us from long distance travel. Perhaps the answer is somewhere in the theory of relativity. As we approach the speed of light (doubt that will happen anytime soon!) time slows down; maybe that can work for us. People a lot smarter than me have been working on this for years, so I guess the answer is not going to come soon.

The answer is about 300 ft. down at Area 51 Nevada. The problem is reverse engineering with the materials we have. It is like asking GROG the neanderthal to do brain surgery with his club.

Re: Think Tank
Me thinks the "winter doldrums" may have hold of you guys? Shoveling a path in the snow to your CAT and sitting in it for a while may relieve some of the depression. By the way, for those of you that still think the earth is flat, try dragging your CAT through the Rocky Mountains!

Yes, it's called cabin fever; right now I'm seriously considering a spring break (wife teaches) trip to Ajo.
I have plenty of snow if you folks from southern Arizona would like to take a stab at it.

Re: Think Tank
It would probably be scary to know exactly what technology the government really has.
I am with you the east coast has been getting hammered with snow. I am ready for warm weather and get the Cat out!!

Come out West,,, no white stuff around here.
The laser technology is advancing in leaps and bounds. My brother saw what a beam did to a jet drone out by Nellis AFB. Burnt to a crisp. It is always good to talk about ideas, cabin fever or not.
