Converter/charger problem
I am now having converter/charger problems. I live in a 2007 32 qbbs due to my work and came home yesterday to find my lights not working. I checked and all my 12 volt system was dead, and my 110 was fine. I had another battery so I stuck it on and all my lights work fine. I checked my charger at the battery with my fluke meter and it was only showing 12.3 volts which is just battery power, it should be around 13.6 or so. My converter/charger is a Parallax, 55 amp, series 7100, model 7155. You have always been able to hear the fan in the charger cycle on and off , now the fan dont come on at all. Has anyone had a problem with this kind of charger? and if so have you had any luck repairing them or do you just replace them? just my luck it went out when east Texas has 8" of snow on the ground for the first time in 25 years...lol I would rather be building a snow man! well any help would be great. This forum is great. Bobby

I have had the same problem with the Parallax, 55 amp, series 7300, model 7355. You can connect a battery charger directly to the battery to get you by until you get a replacement. I have not been able to find anyone to repair the Parallax brand converter. Jim

Re: Converter/charger problem
I am having charger problems. Downloaded the troubleshooting guide from their website. According to the guide the problem was not, repeat, not the converter. Took 5th wheel to Camping World. They said converter was bad. Since then I took a trip to Texas and used my battery charger to run/charge the 12 volt system. The CW tech said to just take it easy on the furnace and lights. Stayed in TX for a month. Will take the 5th wheel in next week for repair. The converter is warranted for 2 years from purchase. However the company wants the bad converter back before they send a new one. We will see what happens.

Here is a replacement lower section for the 7155.

I've replaced several converter units for friends and have had excellent service from bestconverter.com

Re: Converter/charger problem
I would certainly consider changing to a different brand if the unit was not under warranty. The Camping World technicians spoke highly of the Parallax brand. But they also said that my Duro tires were an "accident waiting to happen".
