You have to light the Pilot Lite.

You have to light a pilot light. It can be a hassle. If my DW is going to use the oven, then once I light the pilot light I make sure I keep the pilot light on for the rest of the trip.
I don't have the procedure in front of me and I hope others correct me if I'm wrong but here's the procedure as I remember it. First turn the knob on the oven to pilot. Then push the knob in and hold it in while you hold a lighter to the thermocouple. It will take about 30 seconds before the thermocouple will light. Once you see the small flame at the thermocouple continue holding the oven knob in and count to 20 slowly. Release the knob and your pilot light should stay on. If you pilot light goes out, repeat the procedure and count to 40 instead of 20.
Normally I have the DW hold the knob in while I'm on the floor lighting the thermocouple. When your done baking, turn the oven control back to pilot to keep the pilot light lit. If you know your done with the oven for your trip, then turn the oven control to off.

Richard,

Right on! Exactly the way that I do it.

Sure would like it if the DW would get down on her knees, and I just held in the little button.

Oh well, a man's work is never done!!!!!!

You have to hold the knob down for about 30 seconds (as mentioned above). What is happening is the gas is moving thru the line and pushing the air out in front of it. Then it will light fine.....I just push and hold and then light. I use to cuss a lot until I was told how to properly light the thing!! :)

Yeh, and when you wear trifocals, it is even more fun! We have had 4 RV's with ovens and this is the hardest to get lit. On ours there is a very sensitive spot under the "pilot" wording where you have to be aligned to get the thing to light. My first time out I was sure it didn't work. Had my local RV repairman look at it. He pushed and bent some stuff and then by getting everything aligned, it will work, but it takes 20-30 seconds for it to catch. We make sure we don't turn it off until we are ready to hook up and travel again.

I don't use the oven much, so we turn ours off and relight it every time we need it. I get to hold the knob in .
