Slideout not tight at top

Post by slowtruck on 2/6/2010, 4:07 pm

Does anyone have to use adjustable bars to keep top of slide out in tight while in storage position. When I bought mine in 2006 they gave these to me because it didn't seal at the top. Had trailer to 3 different dealers and they told me there wasn't any adjustment for this and to continue to use the bars. I've never heard of anyone using these on a Wildcat. If I don't get them in tight it will leak water in all over floor

At the top of this topic, there is a "sticky" called "Lippert Slide-out Manuals." You might find a solution there - good luck.

On a trip last year, we stopped overnight in Holbrook, AZ, with the intention of driving through one of our favorite national parks (Painted Desert and Petrified Forest). While setting up we discovered that our slide woudn't go all the way out. We could see light coming in on one side. We found the manuals on-line and found the problem. Scruffy was able to fix it, but we didn't make it to the national park that trip.

Mine was not tight at the bottom left of the super slide. Per the manual, I was able to adjust the slide to close the gap.

I would say these dealers are not being truthful with you. You don't have to go to a Wildcat dealer, any Forest River dealer should be able to adjust it.

Or, you could give it a try yourself.

What I did first was, marked everything with a white marker, so if I made it worse, I knew where it was when I started, so I could put it back.

Mine was going in too far, and thanks to Scruffy and Tater and others, I was able to adjust it. It was fairly simple, but like Tom said take note of how it is currently adjusted so you can put it back.

Going off of memory here, but if you put the slide out, crawl under there and look "out" towards the outside wall of the slide, at each bottom corner you will see a bolt with 2 nuts on it. The bolt is vertical. You need to raise the outside of the slide. I had to lower it, so you should be just the opposite. Also, I talked to Lippert and they were very helpful, but just re-iterated what people here had told me.

When you put your slide out, does the top reach the end of its travel along time before the bottom?

Here is a link to the post last year.
