Raising trailer
Does anyone know where I can get 1 3/4" wide x 2" high spring spacer blocks to raise trailer up so it doesn"t go down the road like it's getting ready to be launched. We have a Dodge 3500 4x4 dually, and it sits extra high. My local spring shop says they aren't available. If I have to make them I can but I just don't have that much free time.

Re: Raising trailer
You can get a 1" lowering of your truck by removing the spacer block that sits between the rear axle and the springs. It's been talked about on www.trubodieselregister.com. Seems like many of the guys have mid-profile 5ers and this is the way that they get the nose down for towing.

Re: Raising trailer
How does it tow and turn with the lift blocks under the springs??
I'm worried about trying that because of the torque at that spot.
I know they make riser kits, but they usually move the shackle hangers lower.
I guess if the U bolts are extra strong, it shouldn't do anything, but watching the wheels and tires twist and turn when you turn makes me nervous to use blocks in there.

Re: Raising trailer
Makes me more nervious putting on longer shackles, because with them being longer they could flex more. Once you tighten the ubolts up on the spring blocks they aren't going to move anywhere. Also if you don't get the new hangers welded at the same exact spot it will throw the axle alighnment off.huntr70 wrote:How does it tow and turn with the lift blocks under the springs??

Re: Raising trailer
I had the local shop take off the hangers, weld a piece of 2x2 square tubbing to the frame the length of the axle area and then attach new hangers. You can see it in this picture:

I measured the height of the cat yesterday after I got the re-arched springs back on and it is now 12' 2" to the top of the air conditioner. Problem is, I don't know what it was before I did all of this. Anybody have a book on the 2004 models that shows the specs?

Re: Raising trailer
A 2009 27rl is 11' 11" to the top of the A/C. So that should put you about 3" higher then before. Hope this helps, Timmoo2613 wrote:I had the local shop take off the hangers, weld a piece of 2x2 square tubbing to the frame the length of the axle area and then attach new hangers. Re: Raising trailer
My 2006 has hangers that have 4 holes in them. Just start raising on it.

Re: Raising trailer
My east coast 2006 trailer does not have adjusable hangers. I put new 15" tires on it, seems to sit a little higher, will find out when we go to the all-star race. Thanks for all the info. TIM
